@carlrosin Yup. Although I don’t live in CA, this kind of sounds like what goes on in FL at times—talking about high starting salary (which isn’t really all that high) but teachers go without raises for 4+ years in some counties. I don’t know if I’d rather have no raise or a dollar raise.
I am trying to help a mentee navigate a potential job offer as a first year teacher and they sent me the salary scale.
I know it’s early on the east coast, but am I seeing in the “Class I” column that the salary literally only increases a dollar a year for the first THREE years?
@dakinlikebacon I’ve actually never had cereal, ever. My family was a “no cold breakfast” family and that’s kind of continued with me into adulthood. So for me it would have been pancakes and bacon, but this morning I made myself an omelette!
Amazon Prime Video has an option for you to put on 3-ish hours of classic cartoons so you can pretend like it’s Saturday morning again like you’re a child.
Just putting this out there for anyone who needs it (me).
@pectinate_claw All super good points! I’ve already directed her to figure out how to move between scales—not knowing that information once screwed me over when I was teaching in SC. I’ll inform her of the others. Thank you!
@COgirlWIworld Right!! Or in this district it appears that when you get your masters degree, it’s a whopping $7 increase over someone who just has their bachelors. Absolutely wild.
@COgirlWIworld I’ve read the scale about 5 times now and it boggles my mind. There are school districts down here in FL where there are no pay increases for the first 4-5 years of employment; I can’t figure out if that’s more insulting or if the $1 per year pay increase here is more insulting.
I’m about to settle down for the night and that usually includes reading. I stumbled across an article on The Cut that is literally called “Anything Can Happen During A Divorce Rumspringa” and I have no idea what that means but I am officially locked in.
@COgirlWIworld Bingo. I deal with a LOT of conversations regarding grandparents. They are upset that they cannot post the grandkids and have no clue about digital footprint or struggle with recognizing the importance of boundaries.

I love my wife in every iteration but “excited for Christmas” Kourtney is my favorite iteration. It is also early June, so I have about six more months of this.
