Rupee under pressure with Central
Bank printing money:
Rupee depreciated 7.2% against the US dollar so far this year to 353.17 rupees from last weeks 327.35 & last years 299.61.
@CBSL printed 309.4 billion rupees in March bringing first three months printing to Rs.610.7 billion
The interview on @TuckerCarlson with Zelensky’s Former Press Secretary is the most revealing interview on the Ukraine-Russian up-to-date. Confirmed pretty much everything I felt about the war.

When LTTE captured parts of sri lanka, did they conduct democratic elections inside their territories ? Why do you think that it is ok to celebrate a dictator who oppressed his own people ?
Dr. Anil Jayantha would have a point if Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 were China 🇨🇳.
⭕️ Sri Lanka has an $8 billion trade deficit and total external debt of over $50 billion.
⭕️ A weaker rupee may help sectors like exports in theory, but Sri Lanka imports far more than it exports. Depreciation will result in higher import costs, higher debt repayment costs, more inflation, and greater pressure on the economy.
⭕️ For a debt-ridden, import-dependent economy like Sri Lanka, the combined macroeconomic impact of rupee depreciation is inescapably negative. There is no way around it.

Vijey will certainly end up like AKD.
Sky high expectations coupled with zero experiece in doing anything other than acting, gas lighting and giving punchy talks mostly does not end well
It's interesting how leaders like M.k. Stalin and Ranil wickremesinghe can lose elections despite strong GDP growth and rising living standards
(Hope people will not regret their decision in the near future)

Another Tender Fraud?
Poland is preparing to complain to the EU over alleged fraud in Sri Lanka’s e-passport tender.
But this isn’t new.
The contract was awarded to JIT (Just In Time Technologies) — a company already linked to controversial passport deals under former Minister Tiran Alles.
Foreign bidders claim they were unfairly rejected.
Appeal processes ignored.
Questions raised at an international level.
This shows a pattern:
Same company. Same sector. Same allegations. Different government.

The recent USD 2.5 million heist from the Sri Lankan Treasury is a national embarrassment. It's not just a technical glitch. It is a catastrophic failure of basic security protocol at the highest level of government.
I think it's clear that the External Resources Department (ERD) was caught sleeping. Hackers intercepted emails between the Treasury and Australian creditors to divert debt repayments. This is Business Email Compromise (BEC) 101, yet our "experts" let it happen with millions of taxpayer dollars on the line.
The Illusion of Security
I find it pathetic that we are pushing for a "cash-lite" economy while our own Treasury can't even secure a Gmail-level communication chain. If hackers can sit in the middle of a sovereign debt repayment, they are likely sitting in every other ministry too.
The government keeps blaming "misinformation," but the only fact that matters is that the money is gone. This wasn't a sophisticated "realmhacking" operation. It was a failure of human oversight and outdated infrastructure.
The Cost of Incompetence
I believe this breach erodes what little international trust we have left after debt restructuring. Creditors will now question if our digital systems are even fit for purpose.
Digital transformation without security transformation is just an invitation for theft. We need more than a CID investigation; we need a complete purge of legacy systems and the incompetent protocols that allow "email interception" to become a national crisis.
Finance minister has to resign !!
2.5 mil USD of government funds transferred to a personal account assuming that it’s a legit gov account??
Wonder of Asia !!

RW’s 2024 address at Indian Ocean Conference remains strikingly relevant today as regional powers recalibrate with US - Iran peace talks taking place concurrently. Sri Lanka’s voice could, and should shape the Indian Ocean discourse, especially with this year's theme "Collective Stewardship of Indian Ocean Governance". With ongoing Iranian ship incidents and growing strategic realignments, Sri Lanka should have played a major role in this year’s Indian Ocean Conference bridging perspectives, promoting stability, and reinforcing a path toward a just, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
Sri Lanka’s one continued failure is taking accountability by people accountable. Whether it’s in government, private, or public listed companies, people who clearly know they are accountable tend to move on or defend themselves rather than resign. This further sets a precedent for others to follow similarly. Until we learn to take accountability at the highest level, we as a country will continue to struggle. #accountability #lka
@NewsWireLK And so does NPP prove that their anti-corruption rhetoric is empty rhetoric. The cheap theatrics of now appointing a PCOI to look into coal purchases since 2009 is a diversion for the actual problem. NPP losing credibility fast.
On the 77th birthday of former President @RW_SRILANKA here's a look back at a statesman that not only Sri Lanka, but the world, would benefit from during these turbulent times.

Do you know this wonderful story about the design of the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital and the unique bed it has? 🤔
🇯🇵 A special gift from the Japanese government to President J.R.:
In 1978, a group of Japanese diplomatic representatives met with the Head of State, President J.R. Jayewardene, and made a special statement.
"You are a leader who dedicated yourself to giving us [Japan] freedom. For that, we, as the Japanese people, must give you a gift. Ask for anything, we will fulfill it."
At that time, President J.R. Jayewardene asked them a wonderful question:
"Has the Japanese government given a hospital to any country as a donation?"
The Japanese representatives said that they had helped and wanted to know what they were requesting from him. Accordingly, the President requested to receive a fully equipped hospital with 1001 beds.
🤔 Why 1001 beds?
When asked what the 1001 beds were for, he sarcastically and humbly stated:
"1000 beds for the public, the remaining one bed for me!"
Accordingly, our country has many hospitals built with the assistance of the Japanese government. They went down in history as a symbol of the strong friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka.
🏗️ Journey of Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital:
Construction began: In 1979. (Intervention of JICA).
Official opening: On September 17, 1984, on the birthday of President J.R. Jayewardene.
Special occasion: It is noteworthy that the then leader of the SLFP, Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike, also attended this opening ceremony.
Objective: To improve the quality of the system for public health and provide modern technological health services.
Governance: It is governed by a Board of Governors under Act No. 54 of 1983. It operates as a postgraduate training (undergraduate and postgraduate training) hospital.
💚JR managed to give an entire hospitals with 1001 beds with all equipments to people, AKD gave a room with 1 bed, no other major hospital projects in discussions even.

Punarudaya. Sri Lanka is at no. 3 among the top 20 countries which have increased fuel prices.
This is also mainly due to coal scam, which we have to use Diesel for power generation.
