Announcing my new project and website https://t.co/iVL41dYl6A! I will be traveling to all 50 states to photograph at least 2 state parks for a book featuring at least 100 (likely many more) photos. https://t.co/8rO9t7jUQi
Wishing all a fabulous 4th of July, no matter how you choose to observe this extraordinary 250th anniversary. Over the last 3 years, I traveled all 50 states to photograph at least a couple state parks in each. Here are previews of some of those images to enjoy.
Summer floods and fall storms made photographing Vermont challenging, so I vow to be back soon. This was a break in an overcast sky that lasted only for about 10 minutes one afternoon at Ricker Pond State Park near Groton.
Many of the leaves blew off quickly during New England's fall folliage season this year, but there still were a few hanging on here near the summit of Smugglers Notch in Vermont. Some nice early morning clouds too. I'm looking to go back again at another time.
The Flume Bridge, built around 1886, is a 50-ft. covered bridge spanning the Pemigewasset River in Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire. A recent image from my fall travels.
Lake Marcia and the New Jersey Veterans Memorial from High Point State Park, New Jersey. Photographed this fall as part of my state park photos project.
Walden Pond State Park, Massachusetts, a photo from this fall. Henry David Thoreau stayed 24 months at a cabin near the pond where he wrote "Walden." "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately…”
A new selection from my State Park Project. These depict trees and a namesake flower along the Trillium Trail and the ancient wall reconscructed by the CCC on the Stone Fort Trail at Giant City, Illinois.
