Engineering colleges across Chennai and Tamil Nadu, including Anna University campuses, VIT, RMK, SRM Easwari and HITS, are rapidly expanding foreign language courses.

Japanese and Korean skills are opening doors to high paying jobs in chip manufacturing and electronics firms that prefer candidates who know the local language.

German and French help secure scholarships and higher education abroad.

In a significant boost, the prestigious King Sejong Institute has shortlisted VIT Chennai as an official centre to teach Korean to students and the public, strengthening industry ready language training.

Many colleges now offer these languages as credit courses or even make one mandatory, while also planning to add Mandarin soon. Clubs, native teachers and incentives are boosting uptake.

Tamil Nadu's students are clearly upgrading their skills to stay competitive in a global job market.
