ಉತ್ತರದ ಗಂಗೆಯಷ್ಟೇ ಪಾವಿತ್ರ್ಯ ನಮ್ಮ ದಕ್ಷಿಣದ ಮಹಾಕೂಟದ [ಅಥವಾ ಬೇರಿನ್ನಾವುದೆ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ]
ಸಣ್ಣದೊಂದು ಪುಷ್ಕರಣಿಗೆ, ಚಿಕ್ಕದೊಂದು ಹೊಂಡಕ್ಕೂ ಇದೆ ಎನ್ನುವಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತರ ಮತ್ತು ದಕ್ಷಿಣಗಳೆರಡೂ ಸಮಾನ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಸಮನ್ವಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತವೆ.

ಅದು ಅಖಂಡ ಭಾರತದ ಏಕತೆಯ ಪ್ರತೀಕ.

The temple mentioned in Mangalesha's pillar inscription is the same Mahakuteshwara temple whose chariot festival is celebrated tomorrow, 1st May this year.

FACT: Gary Tartakov & Carol Bolon's wrong identification of this temple with Bananti Gudi & Cliff Temple has been set aside as untenable.

There is no point in recycling old arguments as if they are some new findings while in reality such arguments have been debated many decades ago and the truth established irrefutably.

@hamsanandi That's called as 'proper sense of propriety'‌. ಔಚಿತ್ಯ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆ - ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಒಂದು ಸಂಭ್ರಮದ ಆಚರಣೆ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ಕೇಳುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ, ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾತುಗಳು.

If such sensibility was in attendance, I wouldn't have taken time to call it out in the very first place.

@hamsanandi The reference to Vikramaditya is just as an example, it could be anyone else.

If someone is celebrating something, say a Kumaravyasa jayanthi, one should not play spoilsport there by making intelligent comments that there's no clear reference for it!

@hamsanandi To celebrate a Pulikeshi-II or a 'Chitrakantha' Vikramaditya or a Vijayaditya we don't need any rigid restrictions holding back. Such incomparable Kannada heroes deserve a year-long celebration. Date just becomes a number for such munificent rulers. Let's keep that in mind.

Goodness gracious! How freely and casually you use determinantive words like 'proved' ... literally baffles me. Because, we think a hundred times over while writing anything conclusive on matters pertaining to ancient history. Atleast, that's what the discipline requires.

Multiple issues with this post.

1) The war where #Pulikeshi defeated #Harsha did not happen in April

2) The Mumbai-Bijapur plates which mention this victory for the first tirst time were issued on a full moon day in April - so the war in question must have taken place few weeks to few months earlier (Those interested can read Dr Shrinand Bapat’s paper on this topic)

3) The painting shown here ( from #Ajanta ) is not a depiction of Pulikeshi’s court. ( It was previously thought so, but now proved otherwise by Walter Spink).

@hamsanandi If any enthusiastic Kannadiga wants to celebrate our proud heroes such as Pulikeshi-II or Vikramaditya etc, one must exhibit a sense of proud belonging and stand in support of such activities. Raising questions on some pretext is not only childish but equally repugnant.
