@reddish8dx @JPGiviner This could be better addressed by allowing people to sign up for squad queues on their own and having the bot randomly pair them up with other players. People would still be able to choose their teammates though if they wanted to.
Project idea for developers: There's a need for accurate in-game time (IGT) tracking for Mario Kart World speedruns. Besides loading time variations, victory animations differ by character and using your preferred character can cost you over a second per track.
I don't have time to develop this right now, but I'm happy to share ideas and offer technical guidance if someone is interested in working on this. If you are a developer looking for a project, please consider this as it would be very impactful.
This method could work without a capture card: just connect your monitor's audio out to your computer's line-in. This could also be useful for displaying an in-game timer on stream even outside of speedruns.
@fdk1188 I'm not opposed to removing it if people want that, but it is useful when someone has only played a few events to show that their MMR might not be accurate yet. But for high numbers of events played that is not really relevant and can be used to shame people in this way.
@Danny_Fathom@RookieMK What about 30 track speedruns? There are already some pretty competitive times on the leaderboard and it will help reinforce consistent lines for online use rather than a lot of the risky strats used in TTs. https://t.co/q3cy7qEpSj
theta_k has found that it is the weight stat that controls how much each coin increases the speed and has measured the speed increase for all possible weights and coin counts https://t.co/G4fXvdskb1
I have measured the speed increase you get for each coin in Mario Kart World. This was measured while rail riding, but I believe it is the same on the ground as well. #MarioKartWorld
@Kevo981 Not sure if you are aware, but the coin % speed increase changes depending on the combination. Heavier combinations the later coins are better, lighter combinations the earlier coins are better. But it is still always 5% increase for 20 coins.
@_theta_kappa has tested and found that the Boo can't steal the following items:
- Super Horn
- Boo
- Boomerang
- Giant Mushroom
- Bullet Bill
- Dash Food

@acronmd It's hard to compare with 8 deluxe at this stage as the MMR is still spreading out slowly and so a 1000 MMR difference in World is probably equivalent to much more than a 3000 MMR difference in 8DX, but here it is for comparison regardless.
Some initial data from lounge regarding how well MMR is able to predict head-to-head outcomes in 12 and 24 player events based on their MMR difference (excluding placements).
There is a bit less data available, but here is the same query but only counting when both players in the head-to-head have already played 5 or more events. Each of these data points is based on more than 30 H2Hs and more than 200 H2Hs for MMR differences <600.
@MeesterTweester Definitely need more data to conclude anything, but I believe this does show there is no immediate difference in luck factor otherwise we would see a prediction accuracy drop.
