Guys like @CynicalPublius, @KurtSchlichter, and even @infantrydort give the press hell for nitpicking and running fake news.

The MSM earns that scorn. But here’s the harder truth: praise is difficult to write because sometimes there’s nothing to report.

I just spent two hours aboard USS Arlington. I got nothing, folks.
I walked every major space. Met a dozen crew. Hung around the bridge asking questions.

They answered every one.

The ship was in tip-top condition. Not perfect. The crew had a few gripes, but they’re too inside baseball to matter on X.

And it wasn’t just the big things, it’s never the big things. What they reminded me of was an old Navy motto “Attention to detail”

Small things like stencil marks that don’t bleed, emergency gear properly lanyard, hatch latches not missing those little springs.

All those things that drive an old ship captain like me absolutely bat sh!t crazy not because we care so much about those little tiny things but because we know that if we find little things broken, there are big problems the crew is hiding from us.

So I got hours on a ship and nothing to report. No rust stain that’s going to get me 3M views. No overweight sailor who hasn’t shaved in three days. No sensationalism anywhere.

If I had an editor at a major newspaper, he’d ask why the hell I wasted my time.

I don’t have an editor. So I’ve got nothing.

And nobody wants to read about nothing. There were a dozen story fragments I could have stretched with half truths, but that wouldn’t be fair to a crew that has worked its tail off.

All I’ve got is a BZ. I’m posting it anyway.
Maybe a few patriots make it viral. Maybe not. Fine either way, because the truth always wins.

I’ve done my absolute best to maintain my distance from going public, and getting involved in this whole influencer/social media universe, but that might have to change soon.

I never wanted to be famous. I never wanted to be a public figure. I never viewed this as a business opportunity. I lived my life fully expecting to never be anyone important. I was just an intelligent guy with an insatiable desire for truth and justice, who set out on a mission to save the world from the enemies of humanity and fulfill my Oath, with what little resources I possess.

However, after witnessing the past 10+ months of absolute insanity, I think it might be time to step into the light. I think it’s time for me to show this pathetic “influencer” class, what an ACTUAL independent journalist looks like.

I was really hoping that I could just continue to drive public conversation and deliver truth from the shadows, but I have been so enraged by the evil “influencers” who have led my People astray, that I cannot sit back and let these demons deceive the masses any longer.

I have begun preparation for entering the public sphere, and when I do, all these phony influencers are fucked. I am going to destroy them all, so help me God.

Every administration has addressed the crime of leaking national security information. To the extent that we have to investigate breaches of national security, that’s something that we will continue to do. To be clear, reporters are not the targets, those leaking classified information are.

We value and appreciate the important role that the press plays in this country, but DOJ also plays an important role to make sure that the people entrusted with our nation’s secrets do what they’re supposed to do with that information, which means not sharing classified information.

We recognize there may always be natural tension there, but we are not going to ignore the law and stop investigating the people who work in the administration and think it’s okay to leak classified information impacting national security.

He was offered immortality. He chose home.

Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey opens this week. We won’t be talking about who plays Helen. We’ll be talking about what the poem actually says – which is so much more interesting.

1. The Odyssey is 2,800 years old and contains one choice that defines everything: a goddess offers a mortal man immortality, eternal youth, and paradise. He refuses. He wants to go home. This is not a minor plot point. It is the entire argument of the poem – and one of the most radical statements in Western literature.

2. Home is not a place. It is the accumulated particular – his wife, his son, his dog, his kingdom, the bed he built with his own hands around a living olive tree. Specific. Irreplaceable. The thing no paradise can substitute for, because paradise is general and home is yours. Odysseus knows exactly who he is for the entire poem. Every island, every temptation, every god is trying to make him someone else. He refuses all of it.

3. Immortality is the abstraction. The Form. The Idea. Calypso offers "transcendence" – escape from the mortal, the contingent, the particular, into something eternal and "perfect." This is what Plato promised. This is what every utopia promises. He looks at the offer, looks toward Ithaca, and says no. Written five centuries before Plato – and already containing the correct answer.

4. Every temptation in the poem is a variation of the same offer. The Lotus-eaters give you forgetting – and forgetting is always the first step to losing yourself. Circe turns men into pigs: comfortable, fed, no longer quite human. The Sirens offer pure knowledge – but knowledge that requires you to stop, to be detained, to never arrive. Each one is a different version of the same proposition: stay, be comfortable, become something other than what you are.

5. He defeats the Cyclops — pure brute force — not with strength but with a name trick. He tells the monster his name is Nobody. When the Cyclops screams for help, he screams that Nobody is killing him. Intelligence as the only weapon that works against power. The hero of this poem is not the strongest man in the room. He is the most lucid.

6. Penelope is an underrated figure in Western literature. Twenty years alone, surrounded by a parasitic class consuming everything her husband built, with nothing but intelligence and patience. She holds the line. She tests him at the end with the secret of the bed – not with passion but with proof. She too knows exactly who she is and what she is waiting for. The Odyssey has two heroes. One travels. One stays. Both refuse to become someone else.

7. This week, everyone is arguing about the casting. Helen’s complexion. Representation. Nobody is discussing what the poem says. This is — without anyone noticing — the Odyssey happening in real time. The Lotus-eaters don’t use force. They offer something comfortable enough to make you forget what you were heading toward. The debate about the casting is the Lotus flower – the smokescreen. The poem is Ithaca – home. Odysseus would have recognized the mechanism immediately. He encountered it on every island.

MAJOR controversy unfolding at Virginia school district

Matthew Haas, the former superintendent of Albemarle County Schools (@k12albemarle), reportedly FAILED for MONTHS to report to the district board about a criminal investigation into a teacher accused of s*x crimes against children until the day before his arrest.

Hass resigned due to the incident, but the board is now attempting to revoke his resignation to prevent him from collecting the remainder of his salary.

We have an epidemic of predators and cover-ups in our school systems.

I'm not going to pay for a subscription to a propagandistic rag like "The Atlantic," but this X post's phrasing is illuminating.

Unless a civilian leader is giving an illegal order, a senior general's or admiral's "obedience to civilian leaders" and "duty to the Constitution" are ONE AND THE SAME.

The fact that our self-appointed "elites" think that it is possible for senior military leaders to pick and choose what lawful orders they wish to follow and still be loyal to their Constitutional oaths is a deeply problematic cultural issue.  It is a festering rot that came to the surface in Trump 1.0 when career (unelected) civilian and military members of the federal bureaucracy decided to “resist” the lawful will of the American electorate.

General Mark Milley telling Red China he would warn them of impending US military action is the fruit of that poisonous tree: treason masquerading as “resistance."

Civilian control of our nation’s military is a foundational, bedrock, Constitutional concept of our Republic.  It means that the military is accountable to THE PEOPLE and not its own whims.  Pete Hegseth is simply reinforcing this bedrock principle and purging the Department of War of this cancer that had metastasized too far.

11,500+ American prisoners died on British prison ships during the Revolutionary War.

6,800 died in combat.

Let that math settle in.

The HMS Jersey — nicknamed “Hell” — held 1,000+ men in a space built for 400. Hatches battened down at night. No air. No latrines. Men died in their sleep and lay among the living for days. Dysentery. Typhus. Smallpox.

Rations: worm-infested meat. Moldy bread. Water so foul men drank their own urine.

The British Commissary embezzled the food meant for prisoners. Guards pocketed the difference. Every morning the cry went up: “Rebels, bring out your dead.” Bodies stripped naked, dumped in shallow sandbar graves. For decades after the war, bones washed up on Brooklyn’s shore.

And the choice they offered?

Switch sides. Enlist for the Crown. Get fed. Get freed.

Thousands chose starvation and death instead.
The British refused to classify Americans as POWs — because that would mean recognizing America as a nation. So they called them “rebels in arms.” Criminals.

No protections. No exchanges. Washington begged for prisoner swaps. The British said no. Because starving prisoners was strategic.

This wasn’t collateral damage. This wasn’t the fog of war. This was policy.

The Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument in Brooklyn holds the bones of ~11,500 of these men. It’s one of the tallest Doric columns on earth. More American dead than Gettysburg, sitting in a crypt in Fort Greene Park.

Nobody visits it. Nobody teaches it.

Because the story of men rotting in floating dungeons, eating their shoes, refusing to betray their country — that’s harder to package than Bunker Hill.

But it’s the truer story.

Remember the ships. Remember what empire actually looks like.

Not all heroes wear capes: Former Long Island nurse Julie DeVuono raked in $1.5 million selling fake COVID vaccine cards. Now New York just hit her with a record $544,000 fine.

The Amityville nurse practitioner ran Wild Child Pediatric Healthcare and sold the phony cards to parents. Adults paid up to $350. Kids cost $85.

She entered the fake shots into the state database so the cards looked real.

Prosecutors said she never gave the actual vaccines and tossed real doses in the trash.

Cops raided her home, grabbed nearly $900,000 in cash plus a ledger showing the $1.5 million haul. She pleaded guilty to forgery and money laundering. S

he forfeited $1.2 million, lost her licenses, closed the clinic, and got community service instead of jail.

The $544,000 civil penalty from the state Health Department is the biggest for vaccination fraud in its 125-year history. She sold the cards to parents of at least 162 school kids. The state has already voided hundreds more of her childhood vaccine records.

This might tick some of you off... but we'd like to buy this woman a beer.
