I am a highly empathetic person who have an anxious attachment, when i like someone, i immediately go too hard. I become too available, too generous, too loyal, too caring, and too reliable.
Too many young people get stuck 2-5 years after graduation because they started in jobs they don’t like or feel are beneath them.
I get it. I changed careers three times before I found my path. But here’s the truth: your way out starts with mastering where you are.
Your current job pays your bills (unless you have legacy money). Like it or not, be excellent at it. The better you are, the more leverage you have.
If you want to switch to a role you actually like, start by making yourself a star where you are. No company will move a struggling employee to a different role.
Learn the skills for your desired role. Find mentors. Volunteer for projects in that function. Prove your value before you ask for a switch.
And please, don’t be the office complainer. No one cares how much you hate your job. What they will remember is the energy you brought every day. Make sure it’s a good one.
Excellence opens doors. Be so good, they have no choice but to notice.
Ever had a situation where you shortlisted your Dad for a senior management role, got to the final interview stage of just 2 candidates and the board selected the other person just because he was younger?
Well that happened to me and I was the one that broke the rejection to him.
Just sent a rejection mail to a candidate that I had gotten a personal connection with.
She responded to me via iMessage saying that the mail gives her closure.
You guys, I’m so close to tears.
I terribly want to cry. Jesus!!
Don’t like this part of my job at all.
seeing your age group having the best time of their lives while you’re at your lowest trying to figures things out - is another type of pain no one talks about.
Wetin recruiter eyes no go see sehh
I texted one about a job and his response was “who goes you”
I’m so glad I’m finally leaving core recruitment mehn.
Like my Oga @nsemeke33 always say, “recruitment is proper ghetto”
@_toluwalope@nsemeke33 I understand jare
For me, It’s just that there’s too many odds from both clients and candidates alike I can’t control and I don’t like that.
