कांग्रेस ने 1896 में वंदे मातरम पूरा गाया. हर सम्मेलन में गाया गया. सबने गाया. इस बीच आधा दर्जन मुस्लिम कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष आए. हर रिलीजन के अध्यक्ष बने. गांधी भी अध्यक्ष बने. गीत पर कोई विवाद नहीं.

वंदे मातरम की छंटाई 1937 में हुई.

कांग्रेस की मीटिंगों में पारित प्रस्तावों से देश नहीं चलेगा। देश चलेगा संविधान से।

1937 में कांग्रेस की CWC मीटिंग में मुस्लिम तुष्टिकरण के चलते ये प्रस्ताव पारित हुआ कि वंदे मातरम् के दो पद ही गाये जाएँगे।

वंदे मातरम् राष्ट्र की नव चेतना का मंत्र था जिसे कांग्रेस ने खंडित किया। वंदे मातरम् का मंत्र खंडित हुआ तो देश को खंडित होने में समय नहीं लगा।

इस बार कांग्रेस को वंदे मातरम् गीत को खंडित नहीं करने देंगे।
