Just went through @babylonlabs_io's $BABY tokenomics, and it’s actually looking quite good.

First major BTCFi infra on $BTC, so expectations are high for this one ngl.

➥ Major Tokenomics Keypoints:

▸ 15% supply to community incentives (full TGE unlock)
▸ No VC/team unlocks in Year-1
▸ VCs, team, and advisors can’t stake their locked tokens in Year-1

We’ve already seen the repercussions of VCs staking locked tokens and dumping yield on retail (TIA, Eigen).

So Props to Babylon for shutting that meta down completely.

That brings us to the 8% annual inflation part :

▸ 4% to BTC stakers + 4% to $BABY stakers

Since VCs and the team can’t stake for a year, retail stakers will eat a bigger chunk of those rewards in Year-1.

➥ On Price:

10B supply, pre-market around $0.06 (~$600M FDV). Feels low, likely due to illiquid pre-markets and fewer traders on them these days.

That said, we’ve seen good projects launch with lower FDVs lately, giving retail more upside post-TGE - unlike the prev high-FDV meta (Eigen launched at $7B FDV )

So let’s see how this one plays out.
