The Beauty of Crete: The Crete Bike Trail runs between Douglas Lane and Bradford Place, covering about 1.3 miles of paved path through the woods along Deer Creek. With benches along the way, it's a perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy the natural beauty of our community.

Crete Community Policing is sponsoring a Bingo Community Fundraiser 9/23 at Smokey Jo’s! Bingo is 6-8 PM, and raffles are 8-9 PM. Tickets are $25 and include 10 games of bingo, pizza and prizes. The event helps support Special Olympics Illinois. Tickets: Smokey Jo’s or Crete PD.

Crete recently celebrated the birthdays of two centenarians. Raymond Moeller turned 100, surrounded by family and friends. Robert Mungerson celebrated his 106th birthday with a party built around his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs.

Mobile DMV Coming to Crete
The Illinois Secretary of State’s Mobile DMV will be at Crete Village Hall on Monday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WTTW’s Geoffrey Baer visited Crete today while filming a new special about the South Suburbs, from Dalton to Crete.
The program will explore the region’s history, including the story of an enslaved girl and the Underground Railroad. It is expected to air in fall 2027.
Brush and tree debris pickup continues through October 18th. Crete Public Works will begin its final pickup round October 19th. Please do not put out more debris after October 18th. Anything placed out after is subject to code enforcement. Branch chipping resumes in spring.
