Today and everyday we remember and honour the men and women of Englefield Green who lost their lives in 20th and 21st century conflict and the British and Canadian servicemen who are buried in our cemetery. They are all our villages’s sons and daughters #WeWillRememberThem

Benjamin Ready, Royal Marine Commando, killed in Afghanistan on 6th March 2007 - We remember all the sons and daughters of Englefield Green today and every day. #WeWillRememberThem #LestWeForget

Derek Walker DFC, who married Diana Barnato in St. Jude's Church on 6th May 1944, lost his life when the Mustang he was flying crashed on the 14th November 1945. Just one of the village sons and daughters remembered today and every day. #WeWillRememberThem

Ernest Berkley, the 22 year old who died fighting in Malaya on 12th December 1941 is just one of the village sons and daughters remembered today and every day. #WeWillRememberThem

Percy Connelly, an 18 year old who lived in Armstrong Road, lost his life on 10th November 1918 when the HMS Ascot was torpedoed and sank with all hands off the Farne Islands. Just one of the village sons and daughters remembered today and every day. #WeWillRememberThem

Percy Beauchamp died of his wounds on the 13th of October 1917 and is buried in Belgium, The 24 year old baker from Englefield Green who had been married to Elsie is Just one of the village sons and daughters remembered today and every day. #WeWillRememberThem

Robert Armstrong, the 20 year old son of Harry and Alice Armstrong who lived in St. Judes Road, lost his life on the Somme, 7th July 1916, his body was never found. Just one of the village sons and daughters remembered today and every day. #WeWillRememberThem

Frederick Hastings, Leading Stoker on HMS Formidable. He lost his life along with his shipmates when HMS Formidable was torpedoed in the early hours of New Year’s Day 1915. Just one of the village sons and daughters remembered today and every day. #WeWillRememberThem

William Attfield was 32 and had lived in Victoria Street, Englefield Green. He lost his life on 22nd October 1914. Just one of the village sons and daughters remembered today and every day. #WeWillRememberThem

In the absence of poppies this year, we have painted some stones for Remembrance Day as part of the Paint A Poppy Campaign @RHULSchools @RHVolunteering. They will be placed at the memorial in St Jude's churchyard. @VillageSons

Richard Douglas who died aged 34 on 10th November 1914, Robert Brown who died aged 36 on 10th November 1916, Percy Connelly who died aged 18 on 10th November 1918, are just three of those who are honoured and remembered today and every day.
