Built in 1991 with reinforced concrete and standing at 549 feet, 400 West Market (L) is the tallest building in #Louisville and Kentucky, edging out the former tallest building, National City Tower (R), which stands at 512 feet.

The 5th ABA All Star Game, held in #Louisville’s Freedom Hall, was won by the Eastern Conference, 142-115. @DanIssel44 of the Kentucky Colonels led a squad that included @ArtisGilmore53 (on program cover) Rick Barry & @JuliusErving with 21 points & 9 boards to win the MVP award.

1968 featured new talent added to the @sluggernation bat brand, including SS Jim Fregosi, who in 1983-85 would endear himself to #Louisville as the manager of the AAA Redbirds, winning the American Association Championship in both ‘84 & ‘85 before record minor league home crowds.

A Laurel, Mississippi native, Kenneth Victor Payne came to the @uofl in 1985 to play for HOFer Denny Crum. He would be part of a #Louisville national championship in 1986 & a 1st round NBA draft pick for the @sixers in 1989. Congratulations, Cardinals Coach Payne, & welcome home!

19,487 fans jammed Freedom Hall on this day in 1984 to watch #Louisville native & Male High alum Winston Bennett’s (below) Kentucky Wildcats battle Moore High alum (#30 below) Manuel Forrest’s Louisville Cardinals. Although UK led at half, the #14 ranked Cards prevailed, 71-64.

The @manualredeye knew what was poppin way back in 2014 when they interviewed a very young @jackharlow at the beginning of his rap career. The #Louisville native will give the first of five successive nights of local shows this evening at the @LvillePalace.
