Story time… speaking of being asked to enlist to fight in someone else’s war, a decade ago in a TV pitch meeting, to shut me up, a white exec cut me off by going on a rant about how “it should be mandatory for new immigrants to enlist into the military”.

It's great to see Ukraine's neighbors welcoming refugees with open arms. But it's worth taking a look at why refugees from Africa and the Middle East haven't received the same treatment.
Quietly dropping this here for those who have followed me here from back in the #topoli days.
I hope you'll support/sub to my new series Toronto Appreciation Nite, a weekly group chat all around Toronto's teams, memes & past scenes.

@danspeerin Are we now at a point in our industry where a common practice like pre-interviews are “unique” to a few? What if a surgeon chose to “wing it” instead of preparing?
As someone who hosted 2 tv talk series, multiple podcasts/YouTube shows, & currently hosts a radio show: Pre-interviews are not a CBC thing, and they're not out for you. I now run a university media incubator, & we suggest our podcast hosts do them - as it makes for a better show
John Oliver implores the Senate to pass the PRESS Act! It's already passed the House unanimously.
It would protect journalists across the political spectrum from spying and the threat of jail time for doing their jobs.

“How Pierre (Poilievre) attacks my two-spirit people across the country, I had to do something. I asked the Woman’s Council, I asked the ‘aunties’, and they said ‘Go stand with him.’"
It was a silent protest to show Poilievre he can’t say he supports Indigenous people then attack two-spirit people, Aucoin added.
“He hides behind parental rights and attacks trans youth; they are members of our community, so I had to stand up for them.”
Poilievre left the building immediately following question and answer period and avoided reporters....
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, by comparison, was met with applause. He stayed over the allotted time for questions, posed for photos and spoke to the media afterwards.

I knew Poilievre back in 2008.
Can't say I've seen much change in him over the years.
Since becoming leader he has consistently refused to visit First Nation communities in the north.
But he makes sure to bring the donuts for the conspiracy blockaders.

In the 90s, there was a lot of debate about "is canada just america lite?" then Bush, Palin, Trump happened, and we felt "different". With the rise of web 2.0., the Cons have been able to camouflage #uspoli, in our flag.
They are simply U.S. stans.
