@mikevilleKS I’ve said it for years. This the most under-appreciated incredible streak in sports. Kansas basketball’s consistency is unmatched. Only 3 teams (including Kansas) have even made the tournament 23 consecutive years, and Kansas has been a top 4 seed for all those years

There were several heroes for the Chiefs last night, as there always are when a team wins a championship. But one thing stands out to me. All last week, we heard expert analyst after expert analyst say that the 49ers had this, and the 49ers had that, and the 49ers had the other thing, but that they would NOT pick against Patrick Mahomes again. It got to the point where we rightly began to ask if that was too simple to be true. What we learned last night was that sometimes, the truth is simple.

Patrick Mahomes TWICE rescued his team from defeat in the final minutes. First, he led them 64 yards in 1:50 to the game-tying FG. Then, he led them 75 yards to the Super Bowl-winning TD, going 8-for-8 and running for two first downs, one on 4th down. One of his receivers turned a 7-yard gain into a 3-yard loss on that final drive and Mahomes simply erased it as if it had never happened.

He now has three Super Bowl wins, grabbing the MVP award each time. That’s to go along with four AFC titles and two NFL MVP awards. He’s 15-3 in the postseason. Fifteen. And three. Two of those losses came to Tom Brady and the other came to a #1 overall pick who won a national championship in college. Two of them came in OT. Patrick Mahomes has played 18 postseason games, and ONE MAN has beaten him in regulation.

The truth is simple. He’s the best. Ever.

Again, nobody is disputing K’s legacy. The point of this 🧵is that Self has been equally as good if not better since he got his opportunity

19 years is a significant sample size and Self has been better in that time. If he coaches as long as K did it’s hard to imagine their career accomplishments won’t be very similar

@ChagnonJason @BJ__Sports Your Harbaugh analogy couldn’t be more off base. Since Harbaugh has been at Michigan, Saban has had significantly more success than Harbaugh has. It’s not even close.

My point is that since Self has been at Kansas, he’s been better than K. Those stats I gave you support that
