@IndieGames_Muso @BRKeogh @MatthewHindson I would agree with @BRKeogh in the ‘broadly yes’ answer. But, I generally find that it’s not so much about finding answers as it is about increasing the ‘resolution’ of understanding of the world. It’s rarely if ever a definitive answer so much as it is increased depth.
@halfsunksound A ‘genre’ term rather than something literal. Got it. It was the lineage that put me off, cause like… I played all the original games when they were out. And this ain’t that. But a kind of ‘genre’ makes sense
I know this is very inconsequential. But does anybody know why people keep referring to the new Zelda game as a ‘Zelda 2D’ game? At first I thought it was ‘TD’ for too-down, but now I keep seeing 2D written. And it’s very clearly 3D polygons and map.
@IndieGames_Muso@musophrenic Creative arts research is fraught with problems IMO. If one looked at it purely from a creative perspective, the ‘gap’ attempts to prevent someone saying they’ve ‘invented’ a new technique due to an omission in their understanding of things. Art doesn’t exist in a vacuum
@IndieGames_Muso That seems like a different thing to me. And you’re not doing a phd so making a contribution to knowledge shouldn’t really be the primary goal? So are you attempting to identify an area of knowledge expansion or address a deficit? I’m unclear on this
I’ve been teaching myself a little game dev with @godotengine and, while small steps, this feels pretty good. Placeholder music from another project of mine.
