NEW R3BN CEMENT PLANT IN THE CAPE
PPC has signed an agreement with Sinoma to build a R3-billion cement plant in the Western Cape. The new plant, which will produce 1.5 million tonnes of cement annually, is designed to be more energy-efficient with advanced technology, including solar power.
Construction is set to begin in the second quarter of 2025, with completion expected by the end of 2026. The project will be financed through debt and milestone payments. PPC’s CEO believes this investment will secure the company’s long-term profitability and position it for future growth in the region.

JUST IN: ITHALA TO FACE LIQUIDATION
The Prudential Authority has filed for the provisional liquidation of Ithala SOC Limited at the Pietermaritzburg High Court, citing the protection of approximately 257,000 depositors.
Ithala, though often referred to as a bank, was never granted a banking licence but received a temporary exemption to accept deposits, which expired in December 2023.
The appointed Repayment Administrator confirmed that Ithala is insolvent, threatening depositors' funds. With Ithala failing to meet its conditions, the court process will allow for an orderly distribution of funds.
The National Treasury has assured depositors that the government will guarantee their funds, but they are urged to make alternative banking arrangements in the meantime.
Further updates will follow post-court hearing.

My bolt to work costs R22.
That’s under R1000 for the month.
Compared to what I was paying for my car? Installment, insurance, fuel + maintenance? 😭
My mind is blown 😭
I should have sold my car long ago 😭
SPAR SELLS HEAD OFFICE TO SURVIVE
Spar is selling its Pinetown head office and other non-core assets to reduce its massive R9-billion debt. The group is also exploring leasing its fleet and selling some of its corporate stores.
These steps follow a disastrous investment in Poland, which cost Spar R185-million to sell its operations, with an additional R2.7-billion needed to recapitalise the business.
Spar secured a R2-billion bridge loan from South African lenders to address this debt. Meanwhile, a failed SAP system implementation at its KwaZulu-Natal distribution centre resulted in a R1.6-billion loss, impacting its performance.
Despite these setbacks, Spar’s management is optimistic about future growth and efficiency improvements.

Don’t let your dislike of Zuma cloud your judgment. The DA rigged elections in the Western Cape. Here is one example where they changed their votes from 560 to 2325. This is fraud. There are countless examples like this.
Zuma and other party leaders demanding of the IEC to address these issues before announcement of the results is the right thing to do.
The IEC has self-imposed urgency to announce the results today when their deadline is Wednesday. They have all the time between today and Wednesday to resolve all issues raised.
There is a business interest in an ANC/DA coalition and those interests are now driving the narrative to portray the demands of 26 parties as unreasonable and anti-democratic.
What is anti-democratic is elections fraud.
