For years, 50 Cent told it like this: his friend robbed Ja Rule for his chain, and that started one of rap's biggest beefs. Ja Rule says 50 had nothing to do with it. The man with the gun was angry about a girl.
"He pulls out the burner on me." 1999, Southside Jamaica, Queens. Ja says a guy he knew, just home from prison, rolled up on his block, put a gun on him and accused him of sleeping with his girl while he was locked up. Ja handed over the chain. "The guy with the gun won."
Within 20 minutes, he says, a big homie from the neighborhood got the chain back. No watch was ever traded for it, he says.
In 50's version, Ja got angry after seeing him at a club with the robber. In October 1999, 50 released "Life's on the Line," aimed at Ja and Murder Inc. In March 2000, 50 was stabbed at the Hit Factory studio in New York. Murder Inc. rapper Black Child later said he did it.
Ja's name for 50 as a storyteller: "MC Gusto."
In the video below, Ja Rule tells his version himself, start to finish.

This is what troubled youth need to be watching, not rappers living comfortably in the suburbs, paying taxes, and glorifying a street lifestyle for private prisons. That 13th amendment is wicked
