The Aftermath
The truck driver fled without checking on us.
We got out of the car and walked to the edge of the road to take stock. My daughter had a bruise on her right leg. She saw that I was in tremendous pain and kept calm for she knew that her panic would add to my woes. The doting father in me is proud of her for her sense of maturity and understanding.
Seconds after the mishap, a constable from the Maharashtra Security Force who was stationed in the vicinity, came to the site. Soon after, a towing van and two RTO officials also arrived. The three left after inspecting the damage. They saw me doubled up in pain near the car. They did not send for first aid.
The Uber driver said the truck had braked in the middle of the road. (In any case, the truck had no business being there. Heavy vehicles must use the lane on the far left, a rule followed only in its breach). The towing van's battery was low and hence other van was on the way. The driver said he would drop me at a hospital enroute. I meanwhile called up the Uber helpline and asked them to arrange for an alternate vehicle. Ms Bhawani, who spoke to me was empathetic, and said she would arrange another cab. I received a text message saying that the taxi had arrived. I called up the driver multiple times yet he refused to take my calls. Ms Bhawani faced the same experience. I was unable to book another cab using the app despite her asking me to do so. I also saw a van or two from the IRB (toll operator) stop and leave.
My breathing and speech were laboured and painful. Even the slightest movement of my upper body led to immense pain.

We appreciate Mission mode recruitment in SSC exams but the provision that SSC won't conduct DV has its own demerits. Now it is impossible for SSC MTS aspirants to opt out of the exam even if they are selected at a better post in the meantime.
