One of my friends just shared that a UIUC professor made her class take an IAT test that was a simulation of shooting white versus black people. To me, this seems incredibly disturbing and unnecessary, and the professor invalidated the student's concerns #CMN250
Taking the IAT was incredibly eye-opening, as it shows how despite being educated and believing you view all people equally, many of us still carry culturally-engrained biases. #CMN250
This week's module was really meaningful to me as a formerly undocumented student. One of the best resources for me was programs through La Casa Cultural on campus, which you can check out here:

I was very moved when learning about the history of the Capitol Crawl, as it shows how often times people are left with no choice but to protest in any way that will garner attention from the authority.

Reflecting on the Greensboro sit-ins makes you realize how bold actions by young people have sparked nationwide change throughout history. Never underestimate your power to make a difference! #CMN250
Recently I started watching Death Note, a popular anime, and I was shocked at the very sexist writing prevalent throughout the entire show. The only major female character is constantly oversexualized and her life revolves around getting a male love interest's attention. #CMN432
Through my research this week I discovered how even though more women are graduating from law school, very few still hold leadership positions in the field. #CMN432
I think it is interesting that even though the U.S. is consumed by sex appeals in the media and advertising, it is taboo to talk about it in educational settings. In effect, people are learning about sex from untrustworthy and unrealistic sources. #CMN432
This chapter made me think about double standards, and how working mothers are judged for being away from their kids while stay-at-home mothers are seen as failing to make a career for themselves. Today, women are expected to work and still serve as the primary caretaker. #CMN432
@cmn432student I think that this is such a great point! My mom has always been a stay-at-home mom and I truly believe that it is one of the hardest jobs out there
