I don't blame you for not knowing, as anti-Romani sentiment isn't as prevalent in NA as it is in Europe. But it's definitely not a term you likely want in your vocabulary. I hope these tweets have helped. It's definitely an area that people need more education around.

@alexnpress I was watching your interview with @hasanthehun and in it you used the term "gyped" in refference to workers feeling taken advantage of. You're likely unaware but that term is an anti-Romani slur used to justify violence against Romani. So please consider not using it

To be clear, I'm not trying to cancel you or anything, just educate you on the harm that term and its use can cause. Often it's used to present all Romani as thieves and scammers in order to justify violence and marginalization. The same is true of the term "g*psy".
