#SupremeCourt refuses to entertain a plea challenging provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, after petitioner argued that the law was resulting in "reverse discrimination" and questioned the compensation paid to victims under the framework.

Advocate appearing for the petitioner, told the Court that ₹493 crore had been distributed as compensation and argued that the scheme was "inviting people to lodge FIRs".

The Court observed that sufficient safeguards already exist, including the power of courts to examine whether a prima facie case under the Act is made out, and declined to entertain the plea.

I have noticed that people judge others a lot based on their profession. For example, if a girl is doing a beautician course and another is preparing to become an IAS officer, people will look down on the beautician and say, Oh, she just works in a parlour.

But the truth is, she is happy with what she is doing. Not everyone wants to be an IAS officer. Everyone finds happiness in different kinds of work. No job is big or small. She is earning her own money, running her own business and is completely satisfied. So, what is the problem?

This kind of mentality is very common, and honestly it is completely wrong.

Most of the stereotypes about India in Western countries are true.

The reason you get defensive and try to push back is because you don't fit in those stereotypes and it infuriates you to be judged by the lowest common denominator. You push back because you confuse Bharat, the great ancient civilization, with modern India, the democratic socialist republic, and passionately fight for the sacred honor, philosophy, and heritage of the former, entirely ignoring the crude realities of the latter. You reject the humiliation of a collective reputation you did nothing to create, refusing to be grouped with the lawless, the uncivic, and the vulgar when your own values are entirely at odds with them.

But you're part of the quiet minority. The harsh truth is that the rest of the country, the overwhelming majority, simply does not care. They are a hopeless, unreformable mass of selfish, ignorant, and shameless parasites who lack even the basic capacity for self-reflection. Operating on a primitive threshold for crime and corruption, they are far too pathetic and lazy to care about rules, progress, or the public good. They would eagerly wallow in filth, chaos, and shortcuts just to satisfy their immediate personal greed, leeching off the system while leaving the few civilized people like you to carry the dead weight of a demographic dividend that lacks the decency and dignity to ever grow up.

Hard disagree on life imprisonment. This incident, though categorically apalling, did not breach that threshold.

A student at IIT Bombay dies by suicide.

Outrage against the IIT admin.

IIT clarifies that the student was caught using ChatGPT for answers during an exam, was counselled. He went to hostel and died by suicide.

Student's father suddenly realised that since last many months, his son was subjected to caste based abuses by Prof Doolla, the faculty who caught him cheating, and this caste based harassment was "under the directions of IIT director".

Politically suitable scenario, caste groups jump in. Dalit Politicians jump in, including those in power and speak against the professor.

The eminent and illustrious professor, with an impeccable career, is now subjected to a media trial, receives threats, faces calls to be hanged, and is booked under the SC/ST Atrocities Act.

The IIT director resign/forced to resign.

The Ministry of Education, under which IIT operates, does not utter a single word in support of the Prof Doolla who is being hounded simply for doing his job as per the laid down procedure.

On the contrary, IIT Bombay today apologized for its tweet about the cheating incident, stating that the cause of death remains under investigation.

Next, in all likelihood Professor Doolla will be sacrificed to calm the caste groups.

This country is beyond repair.

Requesting the GoI to bring the following amendments to the Atrocities Act so that SC/ST students can feel safer in colleges:

Amendment of Section 3(1):
After clause (zc), insert:

(zd) being a faculty or staff member, causes mental agony to a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe student by catching and/or reporting the SC/ST student for using unfair means in examinations;

(ze) being an examiner or faculty member, awards a failing grade to or fails a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe student in any examination, internal evaluation, or viva-voce, irrespective of the student not performing as per the passing guidelines;

(zf) Any death of a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe student, irrespective of it being suicide or unnatural, whether on the college campus or outside, and whether during an active academic session or during college vacations, regardless of the reason (such as relationship breakups, road traffic accidents, family issues, snake bites, rabies, syphilis, HIV, bomb blast or poor academic performance), shall be held against the GC and OBC members of the college administration and faculty for failing to save the life of a disadvantaged person;

irrespective of active act or intent, punishable with imprisonment for life or not less than ten years.
