This Fri 930am PT, on #yftt (@Yugabyte Friday Tech Talk), @AiyerAmitanand and I will cover "YSQL follower reads" and how it can help multi-region apps that can tolerate a slight amount of staleness achieve much better (region-local) response times.

#YugabyteDB 2.11 extends #postgresql compat significantly with support for GIN, foreign data wrappers, collation, analyze, read committed txn isolation, follower reads, and more! Also included are many optimizations such as advanced delta encoding & efficient TTL expiry!
Discover how newly-released YugabyteDB 2.11 allows application developers to use powerful and familiar #PostgreSQL features without compromising resilience, scale, or performance. 🚀

Congrats to CEO Bill Cook, Kannan @virtualKM, Karthik @karthikr, Mikhail @mbautin and the entire @yugabyte team on your incredible progress as you lead the way in open source distributed SQL databases. Today's round is a sign of more good things to come...
In this blog post, @Yugabyte Software Engineer, Amogh Shetkar, talks about using #Flyway - one of the most popular tools that simplify schema versioning for #databases - with #YugabyteDB. Read on to see how schema versioning can operate with Yugabyte.

Exactly 5 yrs since @virtualKM, @mbautin and I started building #YugabyteDB - with ups/downs, challenges, tough decisions. Super satisfying to see folks benefit, adopt as core infra, and the huge community around it. Thank you 🙏
To the next 5 yrs 🍻🚀

@kevinswiber@Yugabyte And this post, https://t.co/8bvLmEbOEy, describes some of the key decisions in how YugabyteDB uses RocksDB, enhancements done, and also why, for example,YugabyteDB doesn't use RocksDB's journaling or MVCC mechanisms.
@kevinswiber@Yugabyte hi @kevinswiber -- also checkout this https://t.co/qPKGLTKrZX for some additional details. Overall, this approach has worked quite well for us.
2/ Achieving internet-scale is a journey. @xignite migrated away from the complex sharding, disk and CPU/memory limitations of Amazon RDS (SQL Server and MySQL) to YugabyteDB. The end result was was 50% reduction in managing 11 TBs of data over multiple zones.
#dss_2021: "How @xignite Delivers Real-Time Financial Data at Scale". Qin shares their journey-- key requirements they needed from the database tier & why/how they switched from manually sharded RDS to #YugabyteDB.
Internet-scale on a whole other level! @xignite delivers 9 million microservices powered API requests per minute with a little help from YugabteDB. Qin Yu diving deep into how they do it - right now at #DistributedSQL Summit Asia - https://t.co/ncuLCXIZkD
Registration is now open for Distributed SQL Summit Asia, taking place Jan 20-22 in India Standard Time. The Summit is a free online conference to push the boundaries of #cloudnative#RDBMS forward. Learn more & register:
