As the Congress stepped up its attack on Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav over The Indian Express investigation on land purchases by his family and their real estate firms, national convener of the BJP’s IT cell Amit Malviya, BJP state president Hemant Khandelwal and ministers of the Madhya Pradesh government dismissed the allegations as “baseless… bereft of substance” and “politically motivated.”

However, the party is silent on the investigation’s key findings that the Yadav family’s land holdings doubled between 2021 and 2023, when Mohan Yadav was a Minister, and doubled again between 2024 and 2025 after he became Chief Minister.

A Chief Minister’s family being in the real estate business is, in itself, a conflict of interest.

A Chief Minister knows everything that is going to happen in the state, including where new roads will be built, where new cities will develop, and where metro lines are coming.

This information can directly benefit the family business. They can buy land at low prices and sell it later at much higher prices.

It may not sound like corruption to some, but it is similar to insider trading, an unfair advantage that ordinary citizens do not have.

In fact, no minister or their family members should be allowed to run businesses that can benefit from government decisions. Ab Desh ki Sewa kar rahe hai to itna balidan kar hi sakte hai.

It is time to re-write the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution so that students of law and politics don't remain confused.
With two-thirds majority now assured in both Houses of Parliament, it will be better for the sake of clarity that Tenth Schedule amendments precedes Delimitation, women's reservation and One Nation One Election legislations.
Otherwise, how on earth can breakaway/majority TMC MLAs in West Bengal assembly have a recognised LoP without any merger or a party name and how can Lok Sabha MPs merge with a new party throwing Tenth Schedule out of the window ?
