This is a very interesting article. Different people will come to different conclusions after reading it.

My own take is that the people of Hulhudhu are fortunate to have a council president as mature and restrained as @JaaJameel. He doesn’t take action or approve firings of people out of temporary anger triggered by other councillors. I agree with Jaadulla on a lot of things, including that many of the issues raised are petty. That said, I think it would help in future if Jaadulla were more transparent about what he is doing, even when those actions do not require the council’s approval. That would be good diplomacy.

Moving a couple of bricks does not require and should not require a council vote. These are executive level decisions. Otherwise, it becomes very difficult to run a council.

The jailing of journalists @MrLeevaaan and @MohamedShahzan both journalists for @AdhadhuMV marks another shameful chapter in the government’s attempt to intimidate the press and silence public dissent.

It is also a clear indication of government interference in the judicial process.

These attacks on press freedom and free expression will not succeed. We will never waver in defending the hard-won rights and freedoms guaranteed to every citizen under the Constitution.
