Texas leads the nation in traffic deaths. We can lead the nation in ending traffic deaths. Vision Zero Texas is a project of @FarmAndCity, a 501c3 nonprofit.
Friday marked 25 years since the last deathless day on Texas roads. To commemorate the lives lost in crashes, TxDOT announced a renewed partnership with Texas DPS and invited families of victims to share their stories, calling on everyone across the state to help #EndTheStreakTX.
The Texas House will vote on SB 1013, the Safe Driveways bill, on Tuesday or Wednesday!

Once again I’ll be at the Texas House Committee on Transportation Thu morning asking #txlege to end the ban keeping cities from providing Safe Neighborhood Streets, like counties can give the kids in unincorporated neighborhoods.

After the vigil we will take 4,167 steps around the Capitol honoring each person killed in 12 months of Texas car crashes.
Thanks @TxDOT & @HoustonPlanning & @HouPublicWorks for all the great work in the last several years to improve Houston street design w/ safety improvements like this roundabout improving more Houstonians’ lives.
Hopefully local & state leaders will continue caring about safety.
Everyone deserves safe roads. The Safe System approach puts a special focus on pedestrians and bicyclists, who are more vulnerable in crashes. Find out how this approach enhances safety for pedestrians and bicyclists: https://t.co/FYKbmiGC33

Driver speed is one of the fundamental problems that modern culture isn't ready to break free from.
Chances of life-altering crash increase with speed, and it's especially dangerous for young & old people.
Meaningful progress is happening in Dallas w/ @TxDOTDallas@NCTCOGtrans & @DDOTransport working together to make the city’s most dangerous street safe.
We support community leaders calling for immediate changes. The dangerous design speed can be fixed w/ interim improvements.
Sadly, it appears more people died in City of Houston traffic crashes in the first 6 months of the year than in any previous year.
The people of Houston deserve a better transportation system. Leaders at all levels have options to reduce these preventable tragic deaths.
New: The number of people dead in Houston traffic crashes outnumbered the city’s homicides in the first half of 2024.
Houston homicides are on track to reach a five-year low while fatal crashes could reach a five-year high by year’s end
