🌍♻️ World Environment Day 2026
Sierra Leone’s natural beauty is one of our greatest assets. From our forests to our islands, wetlands and beaches. Protecting our environment means protecting our tourism future.
Every piece of plastic removed from our beaches and forests helps preserve the destinations we love. Together, we can keep Sierra Leone clean, green, and beautiful for generations to come.
💚 Beat Plastic Pollution. Protect Nature. Support Tourism.

Did you know? 🌿 Breadfruit is originally from the Pacific Islands, but during the Atlantic slave trade, it was transported across oceans to feed enslaved Africans on plantations because it was cheap, nutritious, and easy to grow. Today, breadfruit grows in the Banana Islands and many parts of Sierra Leone and beyond, reminding us that not only people, but also plants and food traditions crossed the Atlantic and shaped cultures around the world. 🇸🇱🌍

Fun Fact!🇸🇱🇪🇺🇺🇸🇯🇲
Did you know that the cemetery at Bunce Island contains the graves of European traders, soldiers, and workers who lived on the island during the transatlantic slave trade in the 1700s and 1800s?
These graves are important historical records that show how Bunce Island was connected to Britain, Africa, and the Americas during the slave trade era.
Last year, a group of Jamaicans visited Bunce Island during the One Nation Reggae Festival to reconnect with the shared history and culture between Sierra Leone and the Caribbean. Among them were the iconic reggae artists Sizzla, Christopher Martin, Queen Ifrica, Danny Bless, Lucan I, Mckada, and others who came to celebrate culture, music, and history.
