I thought I would never write this but I am leaving Goldsmiths after more than 40 years as a student & teacher. The prospect of drawing my salary while watching colleagues lose their jobs is unliveable. This is not the 'Great Tradition' of learning Richard Hoggart described.

@OfficialAwkBe @peterpansel It's pronounced as um (as in sum) ma, not oh (as in sandra oh) ma. eom ma would also be correct, but phonetically I think um (as in sum) is easier to read it closer for folks who may not see/read/say eom often.

Not sure how 2 feel beyond the initial gutteral "ugh." Certainly seems 2 b a reminder of how the good (act), the goods (outcome), & The Good (ppl) r pushed toward the very traps causing the issues needing 2 b addressed.

Why not donate the production $ toward orgs/causes instead?

@GraceLP Unsolicited sugg: additional stuff you have in there (e.g., clams, shrimp, etc) can bring spicy lvl down. Also I add an egg at the very end (like soontofu stew spots). I don't break it, but it would be even less spicy if egg was broken and swirled around a little before it cooks.

@GraceLP I've only used a few and they never seemed that spicy, but I used to be one of those folks who lived for super spicy lvl at the soontofu stew spots.

@tanyaboza I personally don't think friendships r defined by permanence. Past certain life stages, we don't share larger environs. We become variants of who we once were & there's no guarantee we change the same way. Foundational overlaps change over time as we do, which can lead to an end.

@arissaoh Yes; I think it speaks a lot to those of us who are 1.5/2nd gen kids bc it's what we watched them struggle w/ while growing up--compromises of not only dreams but also of happiness? Something like that. I think it hits us more also bc it's from another 2nd gen kid's perspective.
