Visva-Bharati Library Network commenced its week-long (6-10 July, 2026) Research/Academic Skill Development Programme with the inaugural lecture on "Insights into Research Metrics" by Dr. Shiva Kanaujia Sukula, Deputy Librarian, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Central Library, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The lecture offered participants a deeper understanding of citation-based indicators and the responsible use of research metrics in academia. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from researchers, faculty members, librarians, and students, marking a promising beginning to a week of enriching academic learning.

World Rural Development Day 2026
On 6 July 2026, the REC Seminar Hall, Sriniketan, hosted a meaningful celebration of World Rural Development Day, bringing together distinguished dignitaries, academicians, development practitioners, and alumni to reflect on the progress and future of rural development.
The programme featured insightful addresses by Dr. Probir Kumar Ghosh, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Visva-Bharati; Shri Anup Kumar Saha, MLA, Dubrajpur Constituency, Birbhum; Ms. Anamika Majumdar, Special Secretary, Department of Panchayat & Rural Development, Government of West Bengal; Dr. Puspajit Sarkar, Director, Terai Tea Farmer Producer Company Limited, Siliguri; along with esteemed alumni of Rural Development, Visva-Bharati.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Professor Amit Kumar Hazra, Director, SEI&RR, Visva-Bharati, and Dr. Subhrangsu Santra, Associate Professor, LL&E (REC), Visva-Bharati.
The celebration featured inspiring speeches, cultural performances, music, and Ashram Sangeet, highlighting the spirit of community development and the enduring vision of rural transformation.
