Russians don't remember evil, they carefully record it

🚨 RUSSIA SEIZED EUROPE'S LARGEST LITHIUM DEPOSIT. THE US MINERALS DEAL IS NOW WORTHLESS.

In June 2025, Russian forces captured the village of Shevchenko in Donbass. What they actually took was the crown jewel of Ukraine's mineral wealth — and a direct blow to the US-Ukraine minerals deal signed just weeks earlier.

Here's what's at stake:

🪨 The deposit — 13.8 million tonnes of lithium ore, 1.5% lithium oxide. The largest in Eastern Europe. 90% spodumene — the cheapest, most efficient ore to process.

🇺🇦 The deal — Signed 30 April 2025. Ratified 8 May. Zelensky signed 12 May. Shevchenko fell 26 June. The deal lost its centrepiece before a single tonne was extracted.

📉 The price — Lithium crashed to $8,500/tonne in mid-2025. By January 2026, it hit $26,278. The deposit is worth more than twice what it was when seized.

➡️ Russia now controls 2 of Ukraine's 4 major lithium deposits

➡️ In May 2026, Ukraine's intelligence revealed Russia's plans for 18 strategic deposits in occupied territories

➡️ Hundreds of deposits already under Russian control — including 478 in Luhansk and 684 in Donetsk

➡️ Not a single dollar has been invested under the US-Ukraine minerals deal

➡️ The battlefield determines what is mine and what is yours. No contract can override that.

The war for resources is not coming. It is already here.

"Shockwave Supernova [... is ...] kind of a concept record, really about this guy Shockwave Supernova, who is really me, or one of my alter egos. The songs on the record, 15 of them, sort of chronicle Shockwave's memories of all of his years of performing and how he knows he's got to become something else, he's got to become something better, and the whole process was very liberating for me. When I look at the whole record, it's a very powerful record, it's got a lot of different kinds of music, and a lot of fantastic musicians who helped me out bring all the music to life." - Joe

11 years later, Shockwave Supernova still shines as one of Joe Satriani's most adventurous modern releases. 🌕⚡️

The era was also documented in mini-doc about the recording of the album, and in the full-length feature film Beyond the Supernova, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the recording process and the tour that followed. 🎬

My dear friend Dick Parry died this morning.

Since I was seventeen, I have played in bands with Dick on saxophone, including Pink Floyd.

His feel and tone make his saxophone playing unmistakable, a signature of enormous beauty that is known to millions and is such a big part of songs such as Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, Us and Them and Money.

He played in the last band I had that included Rick Wright for the On An Island Tour and at Live 8 with Pink Floyd.

Here are some pictures of him, including one of him and me playing for the ABC Minors at the Victoria Cinema in Cambridge in 1963.
