There’s a few different levels of risk depending on the type of produce.

Historically, multiple US outbreaks have implicated bagged lettuce/salad mix specifically (none with whole heads of lettuce), cilantro, basil, blackberries, and raspberries.

Snow peas, sugar snap peas, scallions, “carrots or cabbage”, and “a prepackaged tray containing broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots” all have 1 outbreak each.

So it’s not just completely random, I’d probably be avoiding the stuff that has been implicated in the past, but depending on your risk tolerance, you’re most likely okay on other produce.

As much as we talk about America being on the decline, and it for sure is, it does feel like American capitalist culture has such a large scale cultural victory through spreading evangelicalism that it's influence will live on for centuries in the global south.
