You ever notice the more authentic you become, the more beef you somehow collect? People start calling you difficult, arrogant, problematic, all sorts. Half the time you ain’t even done shit, you just stopped performing for people.

That’s what rattles them. You don’t laugh because everybody else laughed. You don’t suddenly love somebody because they’ve got followers, money or a name. You don’t change your whole fucking personality depending on who just walked into the room. If I fuck with you, I fuck with you. If I don’t, I’ll still respect you, but I’m not gonna stand there grinning in your face pretending we’re best mates. Fuck all that.

And without even trying, you start exposing people. You don’t have to call anybody fake. You don’t have to make some big speech. Just being comfortable in your own skin makes certain people twitch because they’ve spent years learning which mask to wear around which crowd.

That’s why fake circles survive on little silent deals. I cover your bullshit, you cover mine. I pretend I like you, you pretend you like me. Everybody knows everybody’s chatting shit and somehow nobody says it because keeping the little social club together matters more than being real.

Then somebody authentic walks in and fucks the whole rhythm up.

So yeah, sometimes the person who seems to have “beef with everybody” ain’t out here hunting problems. They just refuse to bend themselves into some fake little character to keep everybody comfortable.

Being liked by everybody costs something.
