Conclusion: Overall composition could be improved to better guide eyes into intended spaces. Also, it could be combined with better color contrast to makes clearer distinction between negative and positive space.

Finally, spaces:
Unfortunately, the artwork is cluttered and as such it's to distinguish between positive and negative space. The fact that there isn't that much of a color contrast between the two makes it even harder to notice.
