Why Resistance Must Rally Behind the Opposition?

A state as tyrannical as BJP govt will not let a social media satire to become a movement, if it does, it's because either the movement is controlled by the state or it thinks it can control the movement whenever it wants by unleashing the state machinery.

When a movement independent of primary opposition tries to challenge the state, the state at its convenience will unleash its machinery to silence it, the process becomes easy as it can delegitmize the movement by labelling it as anti-national or threat to sovereign.

However, the same can't be done to the primary opposition of the country, as it's protected by the constitution and any unleashing of state machinery against the opposition would be met with an international backlash as it happened when Rahul Gandhi was detained post his protest in front of the PM's residence.

The people of sovereign coming together in rebellion against the state and make the state to submit is a novel idea. While I share the enthusiasm and would love to see that realised one day, A country where people refuse to share a neighbourhood with those of another caste, where even a plate from which one eats cannot be shared across caste lines, and where exogamy is met with murder cannot suddenly be expected to transcend those divisions and come together as one against the State.

Ambedkar argues in annihilation of caste "To excite the proletariat to bring about an economic revolution, Karl Marx told them: “You have nothing to lose except your chains.” But the artful way in which the social and religious rights are distributed among the different castes, whereby some have more and some have less, makes the slogan of Karl Marx quite useless to excite.

Which is why whenever an independent movement is projected to be challenging the state, I perceive it with skepticism and any attempts to dethrone BJP govt can and will only be possible through movements that's championed by it's primary opposition and that's also why I would encourage those who's frustrated with the BJP govt to rally behind the opposition and fight it together.

I don't write it because the opposition is Congress but because the constitutional position of a principal parliamentary opposition makes its wholesale suppression institutionally and politically more difficult.

Rally behind the opposition and let's together dethrone the BJP and it's evils.

I was 8 yrs old when Godhra happened, I'm a first gen graduate and my dad didn't even graduate secondary school and wasn't active in politics however he made sure I was informed about whatever was happening around me, he never imposed anything but he ensured we had a dialogue regarding politics in our household.

I'm pretty sure Saurav comes from extremely privileged background than me and had better access to information than myself, so to stand in support of those genociders until it affected you is not activism, that's convenience.

Comparing Godhra with emergency is a strawman fallacy.

Rahul Gandhi never supported emergency even if he was 14 when it happened, Indira Amma apologized for emergency. Did Modi or BJP ever took accountability for Godhra? Even after they assumed office in 2014-17, the kind of hate they perpetuated was beyond obscene and yet he chose to support those same people.

Again, to stand in support of those genociders until it affected you is not activism, that's convenience.

All those three guys who are the face of CJP was associated with AAP, there's no clear expulsion or disassociation happened, we all know how AAP was formed and who was behind it, benefit of doubt is for those who had a consistent moral stand until they committed a mistake, not for those who continued to support genociders until it affected them.

Saurav Das was 2 years old during the Godhra genocide and barely of voting age in 2017. He was not responsible for it. He course corrected, clearly. Right now he's doing more to confront BJP than you and me.

Do you want to see Arnab's interview of Rahul Gandhi AFTER he was an elected MP (second time) and his comments about 1984 in it? He said he wasn't personally involved (he was 14) though a few party people probably were, and refused to apologise.

We gave him the benefit of the doubt as ignorant due to being insulated from reality by yes men, but I bet we can dig up clips if needed if this is your standard for normal citizens who were two years old at the time.

They absolutely can but what troubles me is the support in the first place for someone who oversaw one of the worst genocide of all time, not sure how many of you know this,

I remember my dad telling me when I was 9 or 10 yrs old, how muslims were burnt alive using large oil containers during the Godhra genocide.

How can anyone ever support such a person? Imagine the cruelty in one's moral compass if they're to support such a person and then claim to have changed overtime.

Good for them if they have truly changed but would I ever see them truly standing against this tyrannical regime, the same regime they once supported despite the genocide? No, I don't think so.

Saurav Das was calling Modi as a saviour in 2017 and he claimed he had complete trust in Modi, yes the same self-claimed champion of GenZ, apparently couldn't Google about the Godhra genocide.

Rahul Gandhi is the only active politician to continuously call RSS out for what it is, infact he's the only one to mention RSS again and again. RSS doesn't like to be mentioned, they want to be a shadow organisation which in turn gives them a free hand and lets them get off scot-free with anything and everything.

RG seems to be the only politician to have understood this and he calls them out in every opportunity leaving the entire sangh parivar rattled.
