@therevjoeblank@frontlinekit@BBCNews@SkyNews The EU economy is 10x Russia’s. The EU manufacturing base is 7x Russia’s. The EU pop. is 3x Russia’s. Clearly, the EU can stop it if they want to. Russia is poor, backwards and evil. They have invaded a small neighbor, and the EU can easily fund Ukraine’s defense.
@SpencerGuard@mobbs_mentality Ukraine is good, Russia is bad. Putin is an evil, war-mongering dictator, Zelensky is a hero for defending his country against the invader. But, the EU economy is 10x Russia’s. The EU manufacturing base is 7x Russia’s. The EU pop. is 3x Russia’s. Can’t the EU pay for the war?
@scottlincicome@ConservativeLA Scott, I work at a seaport. I hate import taxes. I’m a big fan of your work. Fighting the good fight on here with you is awesome.
@LordofLLMs @scottlincicome I check them regularly. Can you give me an example of them “protecting” Democrats? When Trump cuts government (DOGE, ending wars, tax cuts) they love him. When he increases government (import taxes) they criticize him. Simple.
@LordofLLMs @scottlincicome Ukraine and NATO. They love making the tax cuts permanent. Satya, here’s an easy way to figure out how libertarians will view any policy or any politician. If it INCREASES government (like the import taxes), they hate it. If it DECREASES government, they love it. Understand?
@LordofLLMs @scottlincicome Libertarians are against the import taxes. They are against the increased military spending. They are against the attacks on the Houthis. They are against the threats against Greenland, Canada and Panama. However, they love the work of DOGE. They love ending our spending on
@ix_sir@baseballcrank I don’t like Trump. His behavior on J6 was treasonous and his import taxes are stupid. But liberals can’t create an Imperial Presidency that can, “get stuff done,” and then be surprised when it is used against them. Separation of Powers and Division of Powers are good things!
@scottlincicome @LordofLLMs Republicans had fun mocking them as they ran away from their love of taxes & watched them twist themselves into rhetorical pretzels claiming that this tax was not really a tax. Let’s do the same on import taxes. Let them explain to voters seeing high prices why it’s not a tax.
@scottlincicome @LordofLLMs And let’s not say, “tariff” any more. I’m old enough to remember when Republicans like Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich made taxes a bad word. Liberals were forced to come up with creative euphemisms like, “revenue enhancements,” “user fees,” and “temporary budget measures.” We
@scottlincicome @LordofLLMs Thank you for your good work on so many policy issues, but especially important taxes. It is difficult, I know, to be a Cassandra, but hopefully the American people will wake up to the fact that you are so consistantly correct. Regardless, history has already vindicated you.
@ix_sir@baseballcrank Let us work together to dis-empower the Executive Branch. That will mean no more FDRs and no more LBJs, and no more more “big f’ing deals” like Obamacare, but it will also leave future Trumps with very little power to mess with private universities. See, libertarianism is smart
@0ldmanGlen@scottlincicome Glen, what’s really exciting is that your theory will be tested at the polls in about 18 months! If “actual prices” are, in fact, “less of an issue,” then Republicans will do well at the polls. If not, they will get walloped. If they are really high, we will lose the Senaate.
@LordofLLMs @scottlincicome Libertarians pointed out, on a regular basis, eloquently and cogently, that the inflation and debt were caused by the Biden Administration’s big government programs. They have pointed out, for 50 years, that big government, including import taxes, cause most of our problems.
@bdquinn@varadmehta Given what we now know of Hunter and Joe Biden, though, was Trump correct in pushing Zelensky to investigate both men? The infamous Phone Call was used to impeach Trump, but even then, the Biden family’s dealings with Ukraine looked bad. Or are you talking about something else?
@_RLanning@ChrisMartzWX And we keep finding new deposits of oil and gas. And new technologies - like fraking - allow us to get even more fuel from even more places at ever better prices.
@AndrewCFollett Thank you for your good work! It will take men and women like you - who understand these programs, how government works, and the politics of it all - to make progress in this important area. We all want better science, just not political / ideological science.
