Sometimes moving across the country is delicious food & gorgeous hotels. And sometimes it’s finding out that your duvet has been sitting in a rainwater-soaked garbage bag at the back of a pick-up for a week. The smell is truly . . . something. Anyway we made it to Halifax! 🦞
@natasha7md @kjdelay1 Wait, so US pts are expected to do be able to do what I don’t even expect many med students to? Know if their Abdo pain is for GI, surgery, uro, or gyne? Leg pain ortho, vasc, rheum. Do they just self refer to all!? Mind very blown.
Very happy to say that my entire immediate family is now fully vaccinated, after some late night fact clarification on the family group chat last night on vaccine mixing.
#packingchronicles Non-medical fiancé said to throw out these perfectly good pens. I will be bringing them to the hospital because that would be a crime against health care.
@natasha7md Haha. That’s a good idea, maybe I’ll use them to build good rapport at my new hospital. “Hi I’m Vivian, I’m one of the new fellows, here’s a pen!”
@TBDHealthUnit Important to mention that everyone who made the perfectly appropriate choice of getting 2 AZ doses is also fully vaccinated. Maybe the info graphic needs an addition!
Ditto tu vs. vous for me. When I learned French in elementary school, everyone was older than me, so “vous” became the default. Fluent French-speaking friends, is “vous” too stuffy and formal for pt care? 🤷🏻♀️
I'm thankful for a lot of things and the fact that my parents kept this card safe until I was old enough to scan it is one of them. Almost 31 and just sent a copy in today as proof so I can start fellowship!
The 3 weeks of “You’re essentially a board certified surgeon, call me if you need me” I get to enjoy now is such a dream set-up. 😍
Ultimate independence with the quickest and most easily accessible support.
“Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change [outdated, expensive, and superfluous roadblocks to licensing]”. Advocacy works. 👏🏼
And this is why my personal policy is to announce my arrival and explain what I'm doing to all ICU patients with a pulse. . . and sometimes even if they no longer have a pulse.
A patient who was intubated and sedated told me today that he heard a lot of conversations during that time. And wishes people still greeted him when entering his #ICU room. Even though he could not show a response, he wanted to be included.
