It's launch day! A new 6-part podcast series in which I interview inspiring and creative musicians about their thoughts, feelings and experiences of the classical music world. Putting the classical music world to rights!
@BZephaniah please can you help me, I would love Talking Turkeys to feature in my Xmas concert but I don’t have anyone to read it other than a white British male (I’m working on diversifying my choir). Any advice?
Anyone know of movement specialists who work with singers and are able to work magic with children. Somebody who can stage songs without it being full on choreography. Looking for somebody very special for this project....
Or organisations that may be able to help me?
@voice_phoenix I don't necessarily want eye contact but connection. I think if musicians feel the music in the soul or have intent on the emotions or story of a piece, that's when an audience feels communicated to, and connected with the performer. This is true of singers and instrumentalists
Here's a huge dollop of festive fun from Meraki under the amazing @Vocalmich. This year, we were due to perform with Meraki, but Covid means we've been rescheduled to 2021. So for now, enjoy this rendition of 'Jingle Bells' complete with serious 'moves'! https://t.co/VMCEetby6h
@lucymdevine As a classically trained singer turned choral director, I regret not diversifying sooner. Opera is one style, as is musical theatre as is contemporary (with sub genres in each one), sticking to one style limits flexibility and, I believe, stops you finding your own true voice.
Yet again, the freelance, professional musicians involved in amateur music-making and education wait to see whether they can work this month or not. @DCMS@OliverDowden not ok #viable
DO YOU HAVE AN OLD, SPARE LAPTOP?
Lots of kids having to self-isolate from high school at the minute, many without laptops for online schooling. If you have a spare, old laptop that does the basics, please donate it to your local school. The playing field is so far from level
