@ondrejslunecko Ondro, this write-up is pure signal, no noise. It’s refreshing to see someone skip the “Hollywood like bullshido” and just share the real story. That’s what I call the “Sudety Dream”!
@ahmedshubber25 It’s great to have a two-pronged business model spanning both commercial and government sectors—like Palantir. In strong economic times, the commercial side can drive growth, while during recessions, government contracts provide stability and help sustain revenue.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin tried to sell Google for under $1m so they could return to their PhDs. Paul Allen had to convince Bill Gates to drop out of Harvard. Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard took day jobs until pushed by a professor to start HP. Steve Wozniak wanted HP to build his Apple I design because he didn't want to start a company. Herbert Boyer had no interest in starting a company before Bob Swanson convinced him to start Genentech.
@ahmedshubber25 It’s wiser to build a loyal investor base through the public markets, as soon as possible, one that can be maintained over decades. The transparency associated with public markets can help reduce your WACC significantly.
@ahmedshubber25 That timeline appears reasonable, assuming there’s no economic turmoil that could cause delays. The traditional VC model isn’t well-suited for companies like Lumina once they reach certain size.
Warren Buffett:
“I like to deal with people where I feel a 1-page contract will do the job.
If I have to have 50 pages in there to protect me against the guy I’m dealing with, I’ll always wonder whether I needed 51.”
@SawyerMerritt Earlier this year, Denholm, alongside other Tesla directors, received court approval for a settlement worth up to $919 million that requires they return compensation to resolve allegations they overpaid themselves. https://t.co/rQHnz7qv5D
@joecarlsonshow@sushi_travel99 I see where you’re coming from @joecarlsonshow. On the other hand, Zeekr definitely isn’t some no-name Chinese brand — it’s a premium brand under Geely Holding, that owns Volvo. Zeekrs gross margin for Q4 was 19% -> https://t.co/D9GsV8VM3F
@joecarlsonshow@sushi_travel99 Jaguar I-Pace starts at $73,375 (fleet discounts not included). The Zeekr Mix, which the new Waymo robotaxi (the Zeekr RT) is based on, retails for 279,900 yuan in China (around $39,000) + 100% Biden tariff = $78,000. I’d expect the final cost to be a bit lower, but not by much.
