In a recent interview with TV Daily, Chae Soo-bin shared how she overcame her concerns about taking on the Netflix romantic comedy Charge Me (also known as Take Charge of My Heart).

💗 Overcoming her fears: When she first received the script, she hesitated because she worried about being typecast in lovable romantic roles. Rather than doubting her ability to portray the character, she was more concerned about limiting her acting range.

✨ Trusting the team: The writer, CEO, and director expressed their confidence in her, encouraging her to take on the role. Their trust helped her make the decision, and she eventually enjoyed filming the series.

⚡ Understanding Na Bo-bae: To bring depth to her character, Chae Soo-bin focused on Bo-bae’s emotional wounds and her desire not to hurt others. She wanted viewers to see the character’s kind heart rather than simply focus on her electric powers or appearance.

just for fun, don’t take this too seriously! this is based on a korean blog’s saju analysis of youngkwang and soobin, not a proven fact.

i was reading someone’s saju analysis of kim youngkwang and chae soobin, and the way their compatibility supposedly mirrors the storyline of take charge of my heart is actually so interesting??

1. cold metal meets warm fire

according to the analysis, youngkwang has a gyeongsin (庚申) day pillar and was born in winter, so his energy is associated with cold, strong metal. meanwhile, soobin has a jeongyu (丁酉) day pillar and was born in summer, representing fire.

the blogger interprets soobin’s fire as something that can bring warmth to youngkwang’s cold metal. basically, they have contrasting elements that can complement each other rather than being the same.

2. their day masters have an interesting dynamic

youngkwang’s day master is gyeong metal (庚金), while soobin’s is jeong fire (丁火). in the five-element cycle, fire controls metal, meaning their elements don’t simply support each other in the same way. instead, fire can transform and refine metal. the blogger sees this interaction positively, as soobin’s fire helping youngkwang’s metal become more useful.

3. even their birth seasons create a contrast

youngkwang was born in winter, while soobin was born in summer. the blogger points out how his cold seasonal energy contrasts with her warm, fiery energy. symbolically, they bring different things into the dynamic, which can make them complementary.

4. AND DOESN’T THIS SOUND LIKE HORANG AND BOBAE??? 😭

horang literally has an artificial heart battery that runs out of power, while bobae has the ability to generate electricity and recharge him. the blogger sees a parallel between their saju and the drama’s storyline: cold metal that needs warmth, and fire that brings that warmth.

like??? bobae is literally the person who gives horang the energy he needs. the symbolism fits their characters so well, it’s almost unreal

5. the blogger even wondered if their saju was checked before casting

the compatibility seemed so fitting that the blogger wondered whether the production team had checked their saju before casting them. obviously, there’s no evidence that this actually happened, but the coincidence is still pretty fun to think about.

whether you believe in saju or not, i just love how this interpretation adds another layer to bobae and horang’s story. two contrasting energies coming together, with one bringing warmth and power to the other… it fits the whole romantic fantasy concept so well.

kim youngkwang and chae soobin really gave us a romcom where even their saju analysis sounds like part of the plot.
