In recent days, a significant earthquake swarm occurred approximately 900 km south of #Iceland, specifically at the end of the Reykjanes ridge in the southern region.

This seismic activity is associated with the "Bight Fracture Zone," a crucial tectonic feature indicating the separation between the North American and Eurasian plates.

The earthquakes, predominantly located south of the Bight Fracture Zone but concentrated near the plate junction, suggest substantial sliding between the plates.

NEW MARAPI UPDATE:

The death toll from the unexpected eruption of Indonesia's Mount Marapi on Sunday has risen to 22. One person remains missing and is presumed dead due to their proximity to the eruption site. Rescuers managed to locate the bodies of two climbers on Monday and nine on Tuesday.
