Disabling this gets you a FaceID-like experience. It unlocks as soon as your finger touches the power button then the same swipe-up gesture to unlock. Arguably faster than FaceID.

Maybe it’s different on 27.2 than 27.1 but it was instant unlock and swipe up to get in
