Some of yall need to talk to people who like guns (all of whom have become ceettifed paralegals). Just because a law is passed doesnt mean it holds up. This can be true many ways.
1) Palmer is speaking broadly. MOST engineers that are good are overseas. Even if some in defense are good, his statement can be broadly true.
2) Even defense companies end up farming some stuff to China as you move down the tiers.
3) a lot of defense engineers like to think they’re very very good but in my experience, they are actually some of the worst. The teams that work at Apple and other consumer goods companies usually crush them. Because if they do their job poorly, the company loses revenue. Slow bad work is the norm in defense.

@2112Power @E_Bruxxx I agree generally but I would submit that a large percentage of the 99% probably aren’t well suited to go from 3-5 machines to 100.

So I’m not being snarky but in reality most of the experienced people in this space don’t hold the romantic views of reindustrialization or manufacturing that Twitter does. If anything, they might even see this as the industry that has them pigeonholed making half of what software guys do. They don’t need mission or vision, they want a paycheck.
