@Steve_Dangle The problem is that mistakes tend to be highlight reel, eye watering blunders. No doubt, he’s an offensive machine, and spending most of your time in the o-zone helps your defensive metrics a ton, but his decision making when he does have to play D is next level awful.
@Steve_Dangle Take heart…The Leafs would be 1 point out of WC2 in the West.
Sadly, that means there is pretty much zero chance the draft pick will be top 5 and retained. It’s going to end up somewhere between 7 and 10.
@Steve_Dangle Do you think, outside of any potential impacts on Matthews, that this will actually be the best thing to happen to the organization?
Making them face up to the utter lack of compete in some key guys, and the lack of organizational accountability to have not addressed it earlier.
@Turbinetraveler You should get a 5 year visit to the no fly list from the FAA for this idiocy. As they check you off the list, if you are carrying anything, you get flagged, and you receive your letter shortly after.
@Sid_Seixeiro I’d love to see Savard come out and rip these guys for what they really are, but that’s not the code and you can’t do that if you want another job.
All these guys care about is the $$ and what club they are going to post game. They couldn’t give less of a shit about the team.
@Steve_Dangle Like, who doesn’t want to see a clip of Berube going off for 10 minutes about how they just don’t care. Paycheques come in, nightlife plans are made, and nothing else really matters.
@Steve_Dangle I wish the hockey culture wasn’t so tight lipped, or more so, that coaches don’t have to think about their next job, because it’s 100% time for someone to go scorched earth on that room, and call that group out for what they are. Entitled, lazy, and couldn’t give less of a shit
@Steve_Dangle Is there any accountability in the organization at all? The players have run an endless series of coaches out of town, and the message from the brass really seems to be there is no culture problem. Do these guys care in the slightest, or is the paycheck the real goal?
@JeffPassan This wasn’t the only Febles decision that had big impacts. There were a number of outs made at 3rd and home that were the result of base running calls.
It’s not his fault, and he didn’t lose the WS for the Jays, but at the same time, better decision making could have won it.
@DownGoesBrown I have reveled and downright giddy about the Leafs woes over the years/decades, and hours later, I’m still sick about the Jays. Casual baseball fan at best, and that loss is just haunting.
The Jays didn’t get beat, but they just couldn’t find a way to win. It’s heart breaking.
