ABC Vancouver

Mayor Ken Sim (@KenSimCity) and ABC Vancouver are delivering a Vancouver that's safe, vibrant and affordable. General Election: October 17, 2026

[ABC Vancouver @Vote4ABC]

Dear friends,

First, thank you.

To everyone who volunteered, knocked on doors, donated, and believed in what we’re working to achieve, I’m deeply grateful. I especially want to thank Mayor Ken Sim for his leadership and his service to this city.

October 17 did not deliver the result we had hoped for. Elections are humbling, and this one has given us much to reflect on.

Four years ago, Vancouverites trusted ABC Vancouver to lead. We worked hard to make our city safer, build more homes faster, and bring a business-minded focus to City Hall. I’m also proud that voters said yes to the Public Safety Plebiscite, with 68% in favour. That is a clear message, and I hope the next council listens.

I’m proud of what we did together. But we didn’t get everything right, and we need to hear what voters have told us, learn from it, and be willing to change.

The principles that brought us together haven’t changed: safe streets, strong neighbourhoods, responsible spending, and a City Hall that delivers results. But the ABC Vancouver of tomorrow cannot simply be the ABC Vancouver of yesterday. We have an opportunity to rebuild, welcome new voices, and renew the trust of Vancouverites, starting with humility, honest reflection and a willingness to listen.

I’m grateful to continue serving on City Council. I’ll work constructively with my colleagues, stand up for the priorities we believe in, and stay accountable to everyone who calls Vancouver home.

We lost an election. We did not lose our purpose.

With gratitude and resolve,
Councillor Mike Klassen

Today is a big day for our city.

This morning I voted with my wife, Teena, and I could not be more grateful to be sharing this experience with her and our family, as well as the amazing ABC Vancouver team and all our volunteers and supporters.

Our door knockers, including the team and me, are out across the city right now, talking with neighbours and reminding people to vote, as we have been doing for many months. Thank you to every one of you for the time, energy and heart you’ve given this campaign.

If you haven’t voted yet, there’s still time. Polls are open until 8 PM. Find your voting place at https://t.co/8LBWDRyfo1, bring your friends and family, and vote YES on both Public Safety Plebiscite questions.

Thank you to everyone in Vancouver. I am so grateful for this city we call home.

Today is Election Day, and this election matters too much to sit out.

Change has started in Vancouver, but it isn’t finished. We know there’s more to do on public safety.

Here’s what Mayor Ken Sim and ABC are fighting for:

-Police and fire fully funded
-Help for our most vulnerable, with secure medical treatment
-The Public Safety Plebiscite: ban open-air hard drug use and fight for 100 involuntary care beds
-Better roads and sidewalks
-Property tax increases held at 0%
-Record investment in community centres, pools and the services we all rely on

Here’s what Pete Fry is proposing:

-More drug consumption sites
-Shelters that allow drug use in neighbourhoods across the city
-Fewer police
-Higher taxes
-Removing 11% of our roads, which is 220 km, and replacing them with bike lanes

Pete Fry also opposes the plebiscite.

If we want to see the plebiscite become reality, a YES on both questions is where it starts. Only ABC will deliver on your YES vote.

Polls are open now. Find your voting place at: https://t.co/sVRDwu361I and bring your friends and family with you.

Some say Vancouver can’t change. We say it can.

Vote YES on both plebiscite questions today, and vote for Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team.

Please see my statement on Premier Eby’s continued neglect of life-saving involuntary care in Vancouver.

[Mayor Ken Sim @KenSimCity]

The World Cup showed the world, and Vancouver itself, what this city can be at its best.

There was no “us and them.” We were all Canadians, packed together, cheering together. Families with little kids. Young adults having the time of their lives. A whole generation that missed the Olympics and Expo 86 got to see Vancouver like never before.

And when the tournament ended, as a city, we didn’t let that energy fade. We kept the pedestrian zone open and reclaimed that street. There were doubters, and some fought it. But we built on the momentum, and showed a whole generation that Vancouver can be welcoming for everyone.

That’s the Vancouver we can have every day: lively, safe, welcoming, and proud. Mayor Ken Sim and ABC Vancouver are fighting for that Vancouver, right alongside you.

Election Day is tomorrow, Saturday, October 17. Vote YES on both Public Safety Plebiscite questions, vote for Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team, and bring your friends and family. Let’s keep this moment going.

This election could not be more important.

Election Day is October 17. Vote Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team.

This election really matters, and the choice is clear:

Pete Fry going backwards and doubling down on failed policies:

- More street disorder and open-air hard drug use
- Clogged emergency rooms
- Fewer police
- Higher taxes and more bureaucracy
- 220 km of roads removed

Mayor Ken Sim and ABC moving Vancouver forward:

- Police and fire fully funded
- Help for our most vulnerable, with secure medical treatment
- The Public Safety Plebiscite: ban open-air hard drug use and fight for 100 involuntary care beds
- Better roads and sidewalks
- Property tax increases held at 0%
- Record investment in community centres, pools and the services we all rely on

If we want to see the plebiscite become reality, a YES on both questions is where it starts.

Only ABC will deliver on your YES vote. Vancouver has come a long way, and there is more to do.

This is the moment to keep the change going.

Vote on October 17. Bring your friends and family.

Safe. Affordable. Moving forward.

Picture your commute with 11% of Vancouver’s road space gone. That’s 220 kilometres of roads and sidewalks.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s on page 10 of the Green platform, and Pete Fry is running on it. He also wants a 30 km/h speed limit on major arterials.

In a city that already struggles with gridlock, that means more time stuck in traffic for commuters, delivery drivers, tradespeople and families.

Mayor Ken Sim has a different plan: fix our roads and sidewalks, coordinate construction better, and get traffic moving again.

If you drive, bike, bus or run a business in this city, how our streets work affects your day.

Election Day is October 17.

Vote for Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team, and vote YES on both plebiscite questions.

Let’s keep building the change our city needs, not rip up our roads.

[Mayor Ken Sim @KenSimCity]

I have been so encouraged by the people I’ve met during this campaign. And it’s clear to me that this election matters, like no other election this city has had.

We’re facing a choice. We can double down on policies that have failed us, or throw up our hands and say nothing needs to change. Or we can roll up our sleeves together, vote YES on the plebiscite, and make the lasting change I think we all know this city is capable of. Only ABC has committed to delivering it.

Imagine if, instead of being known for the Downtown Eastside, we were known as the city that solved it.

Imagine if, instead of being known worldwide for our drug policies, we were known as a world-class leader in treatment and recovery.

I believe in what this city can be.

Being your Mayor has been the greatest privilege of my life. Let’s make the next four years count, Vancouver.

Election Day is this Saturday, October 17. Vote YES on both Public Safety Plebiscite questions, vote for me and your ABC Vancouver team, and bring your friends and family.

[ABC Vancouver @Vote4ABC]

There are many reasons this election matters, but one of the most important issues facing Vancouver is public safety and street disorder.

Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team brought forward the Public Safety Plebiscite, proposing:

1. Strengthening City bylaws against open-air hard drug use

2. Calling on the Province to provide more voluntary and at least 100 involuntary care beds for people facing severe mental health and addiction challenges

The National Post has now endorsed voting YES on both questions.

The editorial comes amid continued public discussion about street disorder, addiction, treatment and recovery.

Residents from across Vancouver have also shared their experiences, including concerns about drug use near children, conditions in their neighbourhoods, access to medical treatment and pressure on emergency rooms. Some of their comments are featured in this carousel.

Only Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team have committed to pursuing the changes proposed in the plebiscite.

On October 17, Vancouverites will elect their next mayor and council and have their say on both public safety questions.

Let’s make Vancouver known for world-class treatment and recovery.

[Mayor Ken Sim @KenSimCity]

This election matters too much to sit out.

Vancouver’s economy depends on small businesses, and they thrive when our city is thriving and people are coming out to enjoy everything Vancouver has to offer.

Mayor Ken Sim stopped by a local restaurant to talk with the servers and chefs about their work. Ken worked in restaurants himself, starting on the line and working his way up to sous chef, before becoming a small business owner in the industry. He knows how hard these businesses work and the challenges they face.

ABC Vancouver is committed to cutting red tape, making City Hall easier to work with and building an economy where small businesses can grow and create good jobs. Our 2026 platform includes making City Hall work faster for residents and businesses.

But none of that succeeds unless Vancouver is safe and affordable. We’ve started to make change, but we haven’t achieved all the change we want. We need to keep working to make our streets and neighbourhoods safer for residents, workers and the businesses that help build this city.

That’s why the Public Safety Plebiscite matters. It gives you a direct say on stronger City laws around open-air hard drug use, and on calling for secure medical treatment for people in severe crisis. If we want to see it become reality, a YES on both questions is where it starts. Only ABC will deliver on your YES vote.

We want Vancouver to be a city where businesses can succeed, people can find good jobs, and the people who work here can afford to live here.

Vote today, October 13, or on Election Day, October 17. Bring your coworkers, your regulars and your friends. Vote YES on both plebiscite questions, and vote for Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team.

Behind the job of mayor, or politics, there are amazing people across this city like Denise.

She owns an award-winning hair salon here in Vancouver

Denise is at ground zero when it comes to street disorder.

Drug use right outside her front door. Someone blocking the entrance while a client is trying to get in.

Having to think on her feet just to keep people safe. Things nobody should have to get used to.

Then a drug injection site was about to be dropped kitty-corner from her home and her small business, with no consultation with residents, business owners, or even City Hall.

So she stepped up and fought for her community.

There are people like Denise all over Vancouver: working hard to get by, full of compassion, and just wanting to do what’s right.

It’s amazing to see what one person standing up can do. Her courage helped change policy at the provincial level.

That’s why this election matters. The Public Safety Plebiscite is a chance to bring the lasting change that people like Denise have been longing for, so they can survive and thrive here.

Please go vote. This election matters so much.
October 13 or 17: vote YES on the Public Safety Plebiscite and re-elect Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team, who are the only party that will deliver your yes vote on the plebiscite.

[Mayor Ken Sim @KenSimCity]

It was great to have another exchange of ideas during the Vancouver Sun debate with Stu McNish.

This election really matters. This is a moment for our city.

The choice facing Vancouver voters is clear.

Pete Fry's approach calls for expanding drug consumption sites and shelters that permit drug use. Mayor Ken Sim and ABC Vancouver are proposing a different direction, focused on reducing street disorder, strengthening public safety, and expanding treatment and recovery.

Imagine a Vancouver where, instead of talking about the disorder in the Downtown Eastside, people talk about how our city addressed those challenges.

Imagine Vancouver becoming a world leader in treatment and recovery.

That is the vision Mayor Ken Sim laid out in the debate: a safer, more affordable Vancouver, with a zero-percent property tax increase and meaningful change to how our city responds to addiction and street disorder.

Vancouverites have been telling us they believe real change can happen. They want to move forward and try something new, rather than return to the policies they believe have failed our city in the past.

On October 17th, voters will choose Vancouver's next mayor and council and have their say on the two public safety plebiscite questions.

#ABCVancouver #PublicSafety #Affordability

[ABC Vancouver @Vote4ABC]

This election matters. Today is advance voting day, and it’s so important we get out and vote.

Change has started in Vancouver, but we need more. We know there’s more to do on public safety, and we haven’t gotten everything right.

Pete Fry has proposed dangerous policies that would take Vancouver backwards:

- More drug consumption sites
- Shelters that allow drug use in neighbourhoods across the city
- Fewer police
- Higher taxes
- Removing 11% of our roads, which is 220 km, and replacing them with bike lanes

The world is unstable right now. This is a time for stability and sound government.

The Public Safety Plebiscite lets Vancouver ban hard drug use in open public spaces and get our most vulnerable the care they need. It means cleaner streets and the change we all want. Pete Fry opposes it.

If you want Vancouver to move forward, not back to the encampments and disorder of the past, get out and vote today. And if you can, bring your friends out to vote as well.

Some say Vancouver can’t change. We say it can.

October 10, 13 or 17: vote YES and re-elect Mayor Ken Sim and your ABC Vancouver team.

It was another great debate at the Vancouver Sun with Stu McNish.

Could you imagine losing 11% of Vancouver's road space? That's 220 kilometres of roads and sidewalks!  Hard to believe but that is what Pete Fry says he’s going to do.

He even wants you to drive 30 km/h hour on all major arterials.

Imagine what that would mean for traffic in a city already struggling with gridlock?

As Mayor Ken Sim made clear during the debate, his approach is different: investing in roads and sidewalks, streamlining construction, and focusing on getting traffic moving.

These are important choices about how Vancouver's streets will work for residents, businesses, and families.

On October 17th, Vancouverites will choose their next mayor and council. If you drive at all around our city.  This choice matters.
