@GovSherrillNJ Estimated savings. Estimated by whom? PJM capacity auction costs went up 833% for this delivery year, which is exactly why you were in Chicago the day before this post. Ratepayers do not pay estimates. They pay the bill that shows up in October.
@terramimic Neither, exactly. Car number one showed up in April and has been in testing ever since. 374 on order, zero carrying passengers. NJ Transit says up to 40 should enter service later this year. I will believe that when I am standing on one.
NJ Transit cancelled 1,715 trains this summer, up from 1,646 last summer. Starting Sunday, every line except Atlantic City runs a reduced schedule into mid November for the Portal Bridge cutover. The replacement rail cars were ordered in 2018 for delivery in 2023 and still are not carrying anybody. Fares did not take a delay.
A New Jersey homeowner pays $10,000 a year in property taxes on a $450,000 home.
In North Carolina: $3,000. Same house.
That’s $7,000 a year you’re paying just for the privilege of living here.
@votebergen did the math.

There is a law letting voters cure a rejected mail ballot. Voting for November 3 is already underway. And this week the Division of Elections told the counties it cannot certify its own system is ready, so the law simply will not apply. Tens of thousands of mail ballots were rejected the last two cycles. Trenton had a year to build this. Who is accountable?
Every few weeks brings another registration update and another number that was supposed to be the last one. AR156 sets up an evenly split, bipartisan committee with subpoena power. The majority still has not scheduled it a hearing. Ask yourself why.
Progressive NJ media continue to fearmonger & villainize the @USPS, so now let’s take a quick peek at the alternative they’re nudging you toward: NJ’s “secure” ballot drop boxes.
Cameras required? Yes. Someone required to watch them live? NO. N.J.S.A. 19:63-16.1(b)(2)(a) expressly says a drop box is “not required to be within view of a live person for monitoring.”
A required schedule for monitoring the feeds or routinely reviewing footage? NOPE. Neither the statute nor the state’s drop box guidelines establishes one.
What could go wrong? I’ll tell you what could go wrong.
BURLINGTON COUNTY.
The RNC requested drop box footage & ballot pickup custody logs from the June 2025 primary. The Board of Elections said the footage from the drop box outside its own elections building was past the retention period & no longer on file. The pickup custody logs? Withheld under an election-security exemption.
And just like that, the video was GONE. The records needed to verify who collected the ballots were WITHHELD. Huh. How unbelievably convenient. Looks like democracy’s NOT on the ballot.
So how exactly is the public supposed to verify that these safeguards were followed? “Trust us, bruh.”
I’m sick of hearing, “There’s no point in voting.” Botched motor voter registrations. Noncitizens registered & actually voting. Improper registrations involving incarcerated people. How many failures are we supposed to swallow before demanding accountability? This dumpster fire chips away at confidence in NJ’s elections, piece by piece.
Wake up. Make noise. KEEP VOTING Sitting out & staying quiet only enables the people who think investigating themselves is the be all, end all. You deserve answers & independent, bipartisan oversight with subpoena power.
The NJ Assembly GOP has put a concrete proposal on the table. AR156, sponsored by Assemblymen John DiMaio & Christopher DePhillips, would create a 12-member election integrity committee, evenly divided between appointees of the Speaker & Minority Leader, with a co-chair selected by each & subpoena power to compel testimony and obtain records. It’s part of our election integrity package. The Majority should give it a hearing.

@KathleenKleinb1 That is Assemblyman Bill Spearman, chair of Commerce, Economic Development and Agriculture. Nothing he did broke a rule. He just decided the answers were not worth having on the record. That is the part worth being annoyed about.
The Commerce Committee held a hearing on why businesses are leaving NJ. I asked the questions. The Chairman cut me off 7 times.
Nobody in that room was willing to tell the truth, so I did.

@MiddlesexCntyNJ is suing Exxon, BP and Shell over climate costs. The same county that fuels its trucks with diesel, paves its roads with asphalt, and will keep buying from all three the day after the lawsuit is filed. You can't sue your supplier and keep writing them checks. This isn't about the climate. It's about a payday for lawyers, and taxpayers are footing the bill for the lawsuit AND the gas.

Save this one. Every time a NJ jobs number lands, the explanation is national headwinds. Three other states caught the same headwinds and somehow ended the year up. At some point the common factor in New Jersey's results is New Jersey.
Interesting time for a lecture on jobs, @GovSherrillNJ.
Over the last year:
Texas: +159,400 jobs
North Carolina: +65,600 jobs
Florida: +59,000 jobs
New Jersey: −9,900 jobs, including a loss of 13,100 private-sector jobs
And you lost 23,600 jobs in July and August alone.
But by all means, tell red states what they’re doing wrong.
Declan sits on the committee and he is right. If the state is serious about health costs, you do not get to skip a cheaper option just because it showed up without a Trenton lobbyist attached.
This…100%!!!!!! I’m a customer of CostPlusDrugs… @mcuban has created a system that offers drugs at a fraction of the cost of the State system. I’m also a member of @GovSherrillNJ Health Benefits analysis committee. If we don’t take @mcuban up on his offer we’re not really serious.
@mcuban@GovSherrillNJ I wish she would take you up on this, but I honestly don't really think there is an appetite in her administration to do the hard work to really solve this problem. I hope I'm wrong.
@FuriousChef The Senate President of her own party asked her to delay it. She let it take effect instead, and now wants to talk about carve outs. That is not a knowledge problem. That is a priorities problem.
One day left before the independent contractor rule takes effect and the administration has answered nobody. Not the Senate President of its own party. Not the business community. Not the freelancers who are about to find out what their contracts are worth. Running out the clock is not a policy. It is what you do when you do not have one.
Unemployment in the country you are criticizing: 4.2%. Unemployment in the state you run: 4.3%. New Jersey is also down 9,900 jobs over the last twelve months, per your own Department of Labor. I am happy to read the national report with you any time you want to read the state one with me.
Not a single person in the state government, at any level, takes the @NJBIA seriously. They are right on this issue, but they are so irrelevant that nobody cares. We need a real business advocacy group in NJ, desperately.
On Oct. 1, the @NJLaborDept is slated to implement the most stringent interpretation of the ABC test in the US. This WILL make it much more difficult for NJ's 1.7M independent contractors to do the freelance work they seek. As thousands seek exemptions for this misguided rule, please join us in asking @GovSherrillNJ to delay it before we greatly damage our gig economy and worsen NJ's business climate.
