The City Council approved contract amendments for our unarmed public safety program.
I spoke against my colleagues attempted motion to delay this work.
This would have caused a disruption of public safety services in Central, Powderhorn, Corcoran & East Lake Street. 1/

Actual downtown biz leaders are focused on keeping their workforce. They do not want or need pressure from the Mayor to get their employees downtown asap to solve his challenges. 🧵In this sense the joke was tone deaf x2.
Those workers are upset about Mayor Frey clearly supporting a bunch of downtown business leaders over them.
The fact that he expressed that support through a dumb joke is just icing on the cake.
