I want the Navajo people to know that I am actively working to move forward another hardship assistance program for our communities, with a focus on supporting families who are truly experiencing hardship.

In January, I issued an Executive Order requesting information and clarification from the Office of the Controller so we can better understand available funding and move this effort forward. My office continues to follow up, and we are working to get the information needed to make informed decisions.

There has also been clarification regarding the hardship funding. While funds were identified, they are not automatically required to be used for a hardship program and could be directed to other eligible expenditures under current authority.

That means there is still a path forward, but it depends on having clear numbers and alignment.

Once we have confirmed funding amounts, the next step will be working with the Controller to establish clear parameters for distribution. This should be targeted support for those experiencing real hardship, rather than a broad distribution, so we can ensure the resources reach the families who need it most.

My priority is to see these funds directly support our people, and we will continue working with all parties to make that happen.

I encourage our people to stay engaged, communicate with your Council delegates, and make your voices heard as we move this process forward together.

5 March 1888 | A German Jew, Eugen Salomon, was born in Wörrstadt. His family moved to Mainz, where he became one of the founders and chairman of today’s football club @1FSVMainz05 at the age of only 17.

He was initially a successful textile manufacturer and later worked as a salesman. Throughout his life, he supported Mainz 05 together with a circle of companions through his work and with financi
al means.
In 1933, Eugen Salomon was forced to leave Mainz and emigrate to France. In 1942 he was deported from Drancy to Auschwitz, where he was murdered on 14 Nov. of that year. Until today Mainz 05 takes a great interest in Eugen Salomon‘s fate.

On the initiative of 05er fans, stumbling blocks were laid for Salomon‘s family and the street leading to the stadium was named after him. Commemorative initiatives take place regularly like a visit for young fans to Auschwitz Memorial.

There are now provisional ballots to review, and a recount surely to come. Who oversees that recount? The Rockingham County Board of Elections, which answers to, and is funded by, the Rockingham County Board of Commissioners - whose chairman, Kevin Berger, is Phil Berger's son.

Who else oversees Rockingham's Board of Elections? The State Board of Elections, whose members are appointed by @NCAuditorBoliek - who Phil Berger put in the job, and who was campaigning with Phil Berger at the polls.

Who liaises between the State Board of Elections and county boards of elections? None other than @DallasWoodhouse, the former executive director of the NCGOP.

If a conflict over the election went into the courts, it would presumably rise to the State Supreme Court. Who sits on NC's Supreme Court? Phil Berger's other son, @philbergerjr.

Let's be clear: Phil Berger may well have lost his seat on Tuesday. But he won't go down without a fight. He will scratch and grab and pull every string he can - and likely break some rules before he goes down.
