@Patriot79999999@tft3j@POTUS You're right about the cost vs. the times of yore. But you mostly don't see science, engineering, pre-med, etc. students complaining about loans. It's the gender studies etc students. College is supposed to be an investment, not a 4 yr vacation from life.
@tft3j@POTUS You weren't duped. You took out loans so you could have a nice certificate on your wall. It was your choice, and the debt is your responsibility, no one else's.
@patrice10706380 Slow, managed introduction of diversity of views and talents is a strength. Rapid introduction of millions of people who are antagonistic toward one's culture and values is, simply, cultural suicide.
@SharikaSoal84@libsoftiktok Millions upon millions of us never felt or thought a racist thing in our lives up till the last 10 years. Now we are hounded day and night in every channel, from every direction, about race and, yeah, many have changed their minds about things.
@lostangel21335@SharikaSoal84@libsoftiktok The vast majority of white people bought in fully to MLK's idea that it was character, not skin color, that mattered. Now we're being bullied to believe the opposite, which we know not to be true. That doesn't make us racists. MLK and today's white people have the right idea.
@ginsengity @Brink_Thinker Is there anything in the universe that could happen that wouldn't lead you to make a completely irrelevant non-sequitur about Trump?
@Onision@jk_rowling LGBTQ+ are the most privileged group of people in Western society. Even in a deep recession, any claim to LGBTQ+ status guarantees employment in any DEI-marinated company, and unearned social esteem. The idea of LGBTQ people being vulnerable is stupendously ludicrous in 2023.
@TristanSnell You're missing the point, intentionally I presume. There would be no more income tax, and therefore no IRS. But revenue to pay for govt programs has to come from somewhere, hence the VAT approach.
@jamesgraser @electMikeHarvey @robreiner That's not entirely true, but yes, any reasonable acceptable candidate could have beaten Trump in 2016. Hillary was so outside what people could ever accept, and thus Trump. The D's have only themselves to blame for that one.
@electMikeHarvey @robreiner If you want to get past Donald Trump and amplify his non-relevance, all you have to do is stop talking about him. Rob Reiner is generating 50+ % of the total internet wordcount on Trump. Meanwhile, Trump has been playing golf and going out to dinner and most R's have moved on.
@FrankieCuskey@GenLeePisthof The analogy doesn't work because a waiter has no agency in serving the food. The person who pulls the trigger has agency: he coulda checked the rounds, coulda said no I won't point a gun at someone at all, woulda coulda shoulda. And didn't. Hence criminal culpability.
@FrankieCuskey @Constitution45 He's being charged with manslaughter, unintentional homicide. That perfectly describes what happened. He didn't mean to kill that lady...it just happened, due to his reckless disregard for gun safety. Manslaughter is a crime in which you didn't want to kill someone but did.
@FrankieCuskey He pointed a loaded gun at someone and pulled the trigger. That's why someone is dead, and why he's responsible for it. In the end, he'll get a plea deal that'll probably keep him out of prison but wipe the smugness off his mug. And that won't be a bad outcome.
@James_72 @wonyvanehtnioj I think Proud Boys is (or was) run by a Latino. But anyway, yes, they're not nice people. Did you see the people on those 1/6 videos? Those are not "fascists". Deluded, yes; madness of crowds, definitely. Fascist, no. The goofy guy with the horned hat - not exactly Mussolini.
@James_72 @wonyvanehtnioj Yeah, there's a few hundred losers living in their mom's basements buying tikki torches. But the hysteria over a fascistic takeover is ridiculous, and it's got people in an irrational frenzy. There is no Nazi threat, and the FBI shut down most of the Aryan types years ago.
