Just watched new Indian action & blood packed blockbuster #SalaarCeaseFire , starring #Prabhas as Deva, aka #Salaar!
Oh my goodness, this movie is full on SPECTACLE, definition of epicness, visceral adrenaline and badassery from the first scene till the very end.

I’m in awe! The opening scene alone sets the tone and drag you into that universe, that’s the most badass David vs Goliath rendition I’ve ever seen. I was already rooting and showing my fist to the screen like I were watching a major final battle in any other movie. And from there the movie goes in a crescendo that gets even crazier with some of the characters holding themselves back till the point when you almost go full ecstatic mode when they finally let themselves lose.

I loved the score, it’s so intense, so powerful and elevates every single scene to a whole new level. There is one moment in particular that the score allied to a big revelation moment of one of our heroes creates the same energy we felt when #WonderWoman shows up in #BvS. It’s that good.

And this movie is visually striking, it’s almost like a prestige R-rated Vertigo Graphic Novel come to life. Every single frame is so carefully crafted that it’s insane. The composition of each scene, the care with the colour palette always with those vibrant browns, crimson reds and grey just make several shots looking like a perfect portrait.

There are some shots with those religious girls that look exactly like the all-women religious order in #Dune, but all in red costumes and they look so cool, so visually striking.

The action is incredible, specially in the final act. Think of #JohnWick on steroids directed by #ZackSnyder hahaha, bloodier, frenetic edits intercalated with those slow motion classics.

And the cast is amazing. All the high lords of the Khansaar plotting a coup d'état to take over the “kingdom” as they call the divided domain over the whole India look and act like the High Table from #JohnWick had merged with the small council from. #GameOfThrones. #SriyaReddy as #RadhaRamaMannar for instance is like we had #CerseiLannister commanding the #JohnWick’s High Table while her father is away. I loved the acting, everyone taking those insane characters so seriously you totally believe in their existence and motivations.

#Prabhas has no much more to do than delivering blood and gore, and he does his function with passion and delight. His relationship and respect for his mother, which is a fierce mom who puts imposes respect to dozens of grown, blood thirsty men, is really touching

The plot is convoluted and has plot twists throughout till the very last scene. And #Saalar’s love interest played by #ShrutiHaasan is an annoying distraction with nothing to do other than being constantly in needs of being saved on the first half and interrupting action scenes on the second, but who cares, everything else works so well that I just ignored any disturbances.

This movie is pure cinematic entertainment, and makes good usage of its 18 rate (here in The U.K. at least), that came at the last minute to change my personal ranking of favorite Indian films.

An absolute blast that I would totally recommend. And finished in a cliffhanger so there is more to come, and you can bet I’ll be seated DAY ONE whenever it comes out.
