Today, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Russian Federation to deliver Estonia’s strongest condemnation of Russia’s recent drone and missile attacks against Ukraine over the past week.
The Ministry also issued a diplomatic note addressing Russia’s ongoing disinformation campaigns targeting Estonia and the Baltic States.
These efforts aim to discredit the region and divert attention from Russia’s own violations of international law, including its continued war of aggression against Ukraine.

From @TheAthletic: The International Olympic Committee provisionally lifted its ban on the Russian Olympic Committee, in place since 2023 in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, clearing the way for athletes to compete at the 2028 Olympics. https://t.co/AXrz5Xgy75
Good discussion on European security with 🇪🇸 Ambassador Ángel Vázquez Díaz de Tuesta.
I thanked Spain for her contributions to our security, and underscored the importance of achieving a successful @NATO Summit.
I see that @MarkGaleotti has chosen to rally to the defense of Masha and the Bear.
Seriously?
At a time when Russia has once again spent the night killing civilians in Ukraine, is this really what we should be defending?
If you won’t listen to us, listen to the Dutch Prime Minister: the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression is coming.
It may take time, but it will happen.
The Russian aggression against Ukraine cannot go unpunished. That is why we need to establish a special tribunal to prosecute those responsible for this aggression. The Dutch government decided today that the Netherlands is willing to serve as the host country—including for the operational phase of this special tribunal—subject to certain conditions.
I just spoke with President @ZelenskyyUa about this important step. We continue to support Ukraine. This will also be one of the key topics at the NATO summit in Ankara next week.
I’m often asked what I think Europe should learn most from America.
Self-confidence.
An unwavering belief in progress.
And the determination to keep reaching for the stars, no matter the obstacles.
On America’s Independence Day, I find myself reflecting on what America has always been about for me.
More than a powerful ally. More than a continent-spanning land of extraordinary landscapes and cities where the world comes together.
For me, America has always been about freedom—and the relentless pursuit of it. A pursuit driven by both a profound love of liberty and the humility to recognize that perfection will always remain beyond our reach. Yet in America, that has never been a reason for paralysis or resignation. It has always been a call to keep striving—to move ever closer to our ideals.
From the Founding Fathers onward, generation after generation has understood that freedom is never guaranteed. It is always just one generation away from extinction.
That aspiration is ours as well.
So today we celebrate America. But we also celebrate the principles that inspire us to be better than we were yesterday, better tomorrow than we are today, always guided by the conviction that all people are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with the unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Happy Fourth of July. 🇺🇸
On the 250th anniversary of the United States, Tallinn TV Tower was illuminated in the colours of the U.S. flag.
For Estonians, the TV Tower is a symbol of our struggle for freedom. Today, it also honours the values of liberty and democracy that have long united our two nations.
Happy Independence Day! 🇪🇪🇺🇸
Now is the time for Europe to take on greater responsibility, keep NATO's deterrence strong, and make it clear to Putin that any attempt to test the Alliance will fail, Secretary General @vseviov told @POLITICOEurope Berlin Playbook.

Russia’s latest deliberate attacks on civilians are not random acts of brutality.
They are part of a calculated strategy aimed at breaking Ukrainian morale and extinguishing hope.
Everyone responsible—from those giving the orders to those carrying them out—must be brought to justice.
Freedom of Estonia depends on freedom in Europe. And freedom in Estonia depends on both.
A pleasure discussing this with Friends of Estonia.
Thank you, @rsternfeld for moderating and Vabamu for hosting.
The principles proclaimed in the American Declaration of Independence are also at the heart of Estonia’s own: liberty, the rule of law, and government of the people, by the people, for the people.
With Ambassador Pipko at his residence for the celebration of 🇺🇸 250.
In a recent interview with @LEXPRESS, our SecGen @Vseviov argued that Putin has lost control of the narrative. Kremlin faces growing strategic pressure as they are unable to deliver military success or define a credible path to victory.
Europe's response should remain clear: sustained support for Ukraine, continued pressure on Russia, and stronger collective defence.

I was glad to welcome Assistant Secretary @DeptofWar Daniel Zimmerman in Tallinn today.
We discussed 🇪🇪🇺🇸 relations and our shared commitment to @NATO.
Plenty of closed-door briefings during our visit with @martin_briens to Tapa.
But also a chance to see the capabilities of the 🇫🇷 forces serving in 🇪🇪 firsthand.
This is what credible deterrence looks like.
The first half of my week has been all about 🇪🇪🇫🇷 relations: first a quick visit to Paris, then hosting my counterpart @martin_briens in Estonia over the past two days.
The depth and strategic substance of the Estonia–France partnership today are truly impressive. From the most strategic questions facing Europe to the daily work of supporting Ukraine, we discuss issues in depth and coordinate our efforts at every level.
